Uday Sodhi quits Sony Pictures Networks

NEW DELHI : Uday Sodhi, executive vice-president and head, digital business, Sony Pictures Network India, will be moving on from the company. Sodhi has been heading Sony’s digital business for the past five years and was responsible for the operations of its video streaming service SonyLIV. He will now pursue entrepreneurial ventures in the start-up space, a statement from the company said.
During his stint, Sodhi was responsible for the relaunch and international launch of SonyLIV’s subscription model. He oversaw the streaming of sports tournaments like Euro 2016, FIFA World Cup 2018 and the India Australia series 2018.
With Sodhi’s departure, Danish Khan will now shoulder Sony’s digital business. This will be in addition to Khan’s responsibilities as business head of Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Studio NEXT, the company’s independent content division.
In a career spanning two decades, Khan has played various programming and marketing roles across channels like Sony Max, SET and Star Plus. He has been instrumental in bringing properties like Kaun Banega Crorepati and The Kapil Sharma Show to the Sony network and conceiving new shows like Superstar Singer and Superstar Dancer.
Sodhi, who remains with the company until 15 November will work in consultation and partnership with Khan and relevant stakeholders on a transition plan over the next month.
