The X platform, previously known as Twitter, experienced widespread disruptions on August 28, with many users reporting issues accessing content. A common error message, “posts aren't loading right now,” has been appearing for users attempting to view their feeds.
According to Downdetector, a website that monitors service disruptions, the outage has affected tens of thousands of users, particularly in the United States, where over 36,500 issues were reported during the peak of the incident on Tuesday. Other affected regions include Canada, with more than 3,300 reports, and the UK, where over 1,600 users experienced problems.
In India, the outage was first noted around 9 AM IST, with over 700 users reporting difficulties. The service disruption has left many users unable to load new posts or refresh their feeds, primarily impacting those using the mobile app.
This outage follows a series of technical issues that have plagued X since it was acquired by Elon Musk in 2022 for $44 billion. The platform has seen several similar disruptions, including an earlier incident in August. Musk, who has been vocal about the platform's technical shortcomings, previously referred to its codebase as “brittle,” as per various media reports.
Amid this latest outage, users reported receiving error messages such as "Something Went Wrong" and "Try Reloading." Although the issue caused significant inconvenience, service was gradually restored, and the platform began functioning normally after a short time.
This disruption also comes shortly after a planned interview between Elon Musk and former US President Donald Trump on X was delayed due to what Musk described as a "massive" cyberattack. The conversation was eventually postponed, with Musk ensuring they were working on resolving the issue.
Despite the widespread impact of the outage, X has yet to issue an official statement or provide details on the causes sof the disruption.
