Chiragh Oberoi is the chief executive Officer (CEO) of Crossword Bookstore. Before his stint with Crossword, Chiragh Oberoi was the chief operating officer at Foodhall, spearheading the retail operations of the lifestyle-gourmet food superstore chain.

Armed with a post graduate diploma in retail management from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Oberoi started his career with Jet Airways as quality assurance manager, and went on to become a general manager at IDFS Travel Services. He was also the chief operating officer at WHSmith (Future Group), where he was responsible for enhancing the brand footprint for its Indian operations.

What has been your greatest extravagance?

I am passionate about riding superbikes and I also love to splurge on the latest machines.

What is your current state of mind?

I’ve recently moved to Shoppers Stop (department store chain) to head the Crossword chain of stores with a clear objective of growing the business manifold.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

Patience has to be the most overrated virtue. With too much of it, you may end up waiting for chances and opportunities rather than actually going out and grabbing them yourself.

What talent would you most like to have?

That would certainly be being a frequent flier. I have always aspired to be in the cockpit, in the pilot’s seat, flying a jetliner.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

I would come back as myself, of course.

What is your greatest regret?

No professional regrets as God has been kind to me and has kept me on the growth trajectory.
