After-hours with the founder and CEO of B9 Beverages
In early 2015, Ankur Jain launched Bira 91, India’s first indigenous craft beer

Who
Ankur Jain is an engineering graduate from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. Following a brief stint with Motorola, straight out of college, he began his entrepreneurial journey by co-founding a healthcare information startup in New York. After running it for five years, Jain returned to India in 2007. Feeling the need for better quality beer in the country, he began importing traditional craft beer from Europe and the US in 2008. In early 2015, Jain launched Bira 91, India’s first indigenous craft beer, produced by B9 Beverages. Here’s how the 39-year-old unwinds outside his Delhi office.
Eat
I prefer a low-carb diet as it keeps me energized through the day. I enjoy Asian cuisines the most as these offer a variety of curry options. My favourite places to eat in Delhi are Tonino, Mr. Choy and Yum Yum Cha. I also cook on the weekends.
Play
I do power yoga three-four times a week in the morning. I also have a morning ritual involving climbing two floors at speed to get the adrenaline pumping at the start of the day.

Lounge
I enjoy watching documentaries on Netflix. The next Web series on my watch list is Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates. The daily New York Times Crossword keeps me hooked. I also love travelling. Vietnam is on this year’s vacation plans.
