Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced on Thursday, March 13, that the software services company's veteran Sudeep Kunnumal will take over as the head of the critical Human Resources (HR) function after incumbent Milind Lakkad's superannuation. Kunnumal, who heads the HR function in the largest banking, financial services, and insurance vertical, will take over as chief human resources officer designate from Friday, March 14, 2025.
India's largest information technology (IT) services giant said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges that Kunnumal will “take over as Chief Human Resources Officer upon the superannuation of Milind Lakkad.” The date of superannuation for Lakkad, who has been working as CHRO since 2019, was unknown.
Since joining TCS in 2000, Kunnumal has headed various HR roles across the company. He was previously the HR head of TCS’s banking, financial services, and insurance division, a post he has held since 2019. “In all his roles, one of his top priorities has been to build compelling value propositions to attract and retain top-tier talent, positioning the company as an employer of choice and bridging the gap between academia and industry,” said TCS.
According to TCS, Kunnumal's accomplishments in talent acquisition have been transformative. He spearheaded gaming-based hiring methodologies that not only identified high-potential candidates but also enhanced candidate engagement. He leads enterprise-wide change management to strengthen the company’s approach to talent integration, ensuring seamless transitions during onboarding, mergers, and acquisitions.
