Tata Group's digital ecosystem service provider, Tata Communications, on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, disclosed that the board of directors have appointed industry veteran Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (Designate) of the company, according to an exchange filing.
“The board of directors of the company, at its meeting held today, i.e., 21 January 2026, has selected Ganesh Lakshminarayanan to be appointed as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (Designate) of Tata Communications Limited,” Tata Communications informed the stock exchanges.
Lakshminarayanan's permanent appointment will be effective from a future date upon receiving the necessary regulatory approvals from the stock exchanges and the regulators.

Who is Ganesh Lakshminarayanan?
Ganesh Lakshminarayanan is an industry veteran with more than three decades of experience working for major domestic and international companies in management.
Lakshminarayanan is the Managing Director and Group Vice President for ServiceNow India, where he has served in his role for more than one year. According to the company's announcement, his role was to put AI to work for all enterprises in India by building the most efficient, collaborative, and fun GTM engine for the country and driving customer success with the ServiceNow AI Platform for digital transformation.
Before ServiceNow India, Ganesh Lakshminarayanan was the CEO of Airtel Business in India, and before that, he was the CEO of Airtel's Enterprise Business unit.
He also served as the Chief Operating Officer of Capitallary Technologies till 2020, and earlier also served as Senior Advisor at Ernst & Young (EY) and Senior Advisor at Sequoia Capital.
According to LinkedIn data, Ganesh Lakshminarayanan served as the Vice President of Asia Pacific and Japan - Sales Operations till June 2014, and before that, he was the President and Managing Director of Dell India.
Over his long career, he spent more than 12 years working for the technology giant Dell before moving towards advisory roles at the consultancy firms.
On the educational front, the industry veteran holds an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, United States. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Guindy Engineering College in Chennai, India.
