The increasing tension and mistrust between doctors and patients is just making a bad situation even worse
The Indian healthcare system is ailing. There are too many patients and not enough doctors. The increasing tension and mistrust between doctors and patients is just making a bad situation even worse. One way of bridging this gap is by creating a website for every doctor. The startup would offer a free customized website to all registered doctors. Doctors could choose their own domain name and the site would be pre-populated with their basic information, available from the Medical Council of India, as well as generic curated patient educational materials, based on their speciality. This would be the digital face of their clinic and doctors would be encouraged to add content to their website on their own. The startup could offer this as an additional paid service to generate revenue.
The website would allow doctors to connect directly with their patients and cut out the middleman so that doctors could practice medicine ethically. They could prescribe information therapy on their website in local languages using video. This would help them attract more patients and also save time as they could answer the patient’s FAQs online. They could also add a telemedicine module to the website for online consultations, to generate more revenue. The startup could also provide pharma companies with digital access to doctors, so that they would not have to hire medical representatives. Websites will encourage doctors to become transparent and more patient-centric as they are being created for patients and a busy website will put patients first by providing information that patients ask for. Patients want more information and the best person to provide this would be their doctor! Patients would not have to rely on Dr Google for their information and could select the right doctor for themselves sitting at home.
The future of medical care is e-healthcare, with the promise of online medical records, online appointments, m-health, digital-health, and telemedicine, and their personal website will allow doctors to remain at the cutting edge of medicine.
Reverse Pitch is like a normal investors pitch, but with the roles reversed. That means the startup doesn’t present its business to investors but investors and companies pitch their business concept, challenges and the like to startups.
