'Indian e-commerce exports may reach $200 billion by 2023'
Indian e-commerce exports are likely to touch $200 billion in the next 6-7 years and will play a critical role in achieving the $2 trillion goods and services export target, a senior Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) official said, ANI reported.
"This is what gives us the confidence that in the next 6-7 years, we should be able to do around USD 200 billion of e-commerce exports. We need to bring about a lot of changes in the way logistics is handled in India, the way policy-making happens, the way RBI looks at e-commerce exports and in all of these we have to make a lot of changes," Additional Secretary and DGFT Director General Santosh Kumar Sarangi highlighted, reported ANI.
Amazon eyes $20 billion exports by 2025 from India: Report
Amazon is targeting merchandise exports worth $20 billion from India by 2025 by adding thousands of small sellers to its e-commerce platform, reported Reuters quoting a company official.
"We are very encouraged by the number of entrepreneurs who signed up this year. We are looking to scale up," Bhupen Wakankar, director global trade," Amazon told Reuters on the sidelines of an industry event, referring to plans for exports.
There was huge demand for "Made in India" organic health supplements, homeware like bath towels, jute rugs, and robotic games for children ahead of the Black Friday Cyber Monday sale, an 11-day shopping period from Friday, Wakankar said.
Xiaomi reveals its first electric car SU7
Xiaomi has recently introduced its inaugural electric vehicle, the SU7, in China. The SU7 is an electric sedan, presented in two variations: one equipped with Lidar and the other without, reported HT Auto. The vehicle offers customers a choice between two powertrain options, namely Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The electric sedan is set to be available in three different variants upon its release: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max.
In the RWD variant, a sole electric motor will be situated on the rear axle, generating 295 bhp. Conversely, the AWD version will boast a higher power output of 663 bhp. The AWD drivetrain configuration comprises a 295 bhp electric motor on the front axle and a 368 bhp electric motor on the rear axle.
Wheat prices fall on weak US sales: Report
Chicago wheat futures fell on Friday and headed for their biggest weekly fall since September after lower-than-expected U.S. export sales underlined weak demand and competition from cheap Russian grain, reported Reuters.
Soybeans and corn also dipped, but both were set for weekly gains despite a sharp decline for soybeans on Thursday after forecasts for rain in top exporter Brazil eased supply concerns.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported export sales of U.S. 2023/24 wheat in the week to Nov. 9 at 176,300 metric tons, below trade expectations for 250,000-500,000 tons, according to Reuters data.
