India, China and the problem of 4-2-1
- A steadily declining fertility rate and a growing working-age population give India some advantage
- The median age of a Chinese is expected to be 39 in 2023. This means that China is rapidly aging as its working age population and its overall population shrinks
MUMBAI : On 1 January, the population of India stood at 1,422 million. Estimates made by the United Nations Population Division suggest that the Chinese population, on the same day, was slightly more at 1,425.8 million.
