
For all those aspiring to join the Indian Army, here's an opportunity through the NCC Special Entry Scheme 124th Course. Indian Army's Directorate General of Recruiting opened it registration window on 12 February for a total of 76 vacancies for unmarried male and female candidates with some seats reserved for wards of battle casualties of Army personnel.
Interested candidates who hold "NCC ‘C’ Certificate” are eligible to register for this recruitment drive. Notably, there will be no written examination under these posts, candidates will be shortlisted directly for further stages. Interested applicants must apply at the official website at joinindianarmy.nic.in before the 16 March deadline. The course is slated to commence in October 2026.

In a post on X on Thursday, Directorate General of Recruiting said, “The Indian Army invites applications from eligible NCC candidates for the 124th Course commencing in October 2026.”
Out of the total 70 vacancies reserved for NCC male applicants, seven positions are reserved for male candidates. As many as 5 posts are available for NCC female candidates with one position for female applicants who are dependents of martyred soldiers.
As of 1 July 2026, candidates must be aged between 19 and 25 years of age. This implies that the applicants who are born between 2 July 2001, and 1 July 2007 are eligible to participate in Indian Army's recruitment drive.
Candidates with "Graduation Degree with minimum ‘B’ Grade in NCC ‘C’ Certificate" are eligible to apply. As per eligibility requirements, applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50 percent marks.
Final year students can also apply but they must have obtained at least 50 percent marks in the first two or three years of their degree course. As per the notification, the stipend will be ₹56,100 monthly during the 49-week training period starting from October.
The notification states, "An officer will be on probation for a period of six months from the date he/she receives his/her commission. If he/she is reported on within the probationary period as unsuitable to retain his/her commission, his/her services may be terminated any time whether before or after the expiry of the probationary period."
