An MBA student from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi, has bagged an internship offer of ₹2 lakh monthly stipend this year. In its summer internship placement report for the 2019-21 batch, the institute said its batch of 211 students received an average monthly offer of ₹1.15 lakh.
The average increase in stipends was 13.5%, as compared with the last year. These summer internships typically lasts for two months after which the MBA students return back to the classrooms again.
"The placement season saw an increase of 11.2% in the average stipend for women candidates which increased to ₹233,674 from ₹210,120 (for two months) the previous year. This year 80% of the batch or 170 candidates received a stipend of ₹2,00,000 (2 months) and above," a statement from FMS Delhi said. The placement that lasted for 1.5 days saw 75 recruiters making 211 offers across 14 sectors.
Around 22% of students were hired in consulting and general management domains, while 17% received offers for finance roles. Around 39% students accepted offers in sales and marketing.
"Start-ups too were in vogue, as students who had a penchant for entrepreneurship wanted to get a flavor of the entrepreneurship bug by interning in start-ups," placement convener Madhu Vij said.
There was a record 42% increase in the e-commerce/IT/operation roles compared to last year with 47 accepted offers from recruiters such as Amazon, Adobe, Flipkart, Google, Media.Net, Microsoft, Ola, Swiggy and Uber. There was an 85% increase in the number of offers in the e-commerce, the institute said.
