New Delhi: The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) on Friday announced that the Common Admission Test (CAT) will be conducted on 24 November across 156 cities.
IIM Kozhikode professor and convener of CAT 2019 Shibhasis Dey said in an email that the registration for CAT 2019 will open on 7 August and close on 18 September.
CAT is considered one of the most difficult management exams worldwide. More than 200,000 aspirants jostle for around 5000 seats at IIMs. The CAT score is also accepted by scores of non IIM B-Schools across India.
Here are some of key details for IIM aspirants:
The computer based CAT 2019 will be conducted in two sessions on 24 November.
Candidates will be given the option to select four test cities in order of preference. Cities and centres will be assigned to candidates only after the last date of registration on 18 September.
After submission of the application, candidates will be permitted to download their examination admit cards from 23 October till the date of the test.
The duration of the test will be 180 minutes. There will be three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability.
Candidates will be allotted 60 minutes for answering questions in each section and they will not be allowed to switch from one section to another.
Some questions in each section may not be of multiple-choice type. Instead, direct answers will have to be typed on the screen.
IIMs will allow the use of a basic on-screen calculator for computation.
The CAT 2019 website will go live on July 28 and will have answer for frequently asked questions. It shall also offer tutorials and mock tests from 16 October 16, Dey of IIM Kozhikode said.
