The UGC NET June 2023 Phase 1 exam will be held from 13th to 17th June, and Phase 2 from 19th to 22nd June. The exam will cover 83 subjects and will be held in 310 centers across India.

National Testing Agency commences UGC NET Phase 1 exam today

The UGC NET June 2023 Phase – I Examination is scheduled to take place from 13th June that is today to 17th June 2023, while Phase II will be conducted from 19th June to 22nd June 2023. This examination will cover a total of 83 subjects and will be conducted in 310 examination centres located in 225 cities across the country.

The Phase – I exam that is scheduled to take place from 13th June to 17th June 2023, with the first shift for Paper 1 will be from 9 am to 12 pm and the second shift for Paper 2 would be from 3 pm to 6 pm for each subject. The Phase 2 exam will be conducted from 19th June to 22nd June 2023, following the same time schedule.

Candidates must answer objective-type questions within a three-hour duration. Paper 1 assesses teaching and research aptitude, while Paper 2 focuses on subject-specific knowledge.

UGC NET, which stands for University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test, is a national-level eligibility test conducted by the NTA. It serves as a qualifying exam for the "Assistant Professor" or "Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor Programme" for Indian students. This year, the UGC NET exam will be held in two phases, offering candidates the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills in their respective subjects.

Candidates who have registered for the UGC NET exam can download their admit cards through the candidates' login on the official website. The admit cards for the Phase 1 exam were released on 10th June 2023. Prior to that, the UGC NET city intimation slip and shift-wise exam schedule were released by the NTA on 8th June 2023.

In order to be eligible for the UGC NET exam in 2023, candidates must have completed their post-graduation from a college or university recognized by the UGC. Reserved category candidates are given a relaxation of five percent in the educational qualification criteria. Additionally, candidates who have successfully cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002, are exempted from taking the UGC NET exam.

When it comes to the age limit for the UGC NET exam, candidates aspiring for the NTA NET JRF must not exceed the age of 30. However, there is no age restriction for those applying for the post of Assistant Professor. Reserved category candidates are granted a relaxation of five years in the age criteria, providing them with additional opportunities to pursue their academic career.

Until June 2018, the CBSE conducted the UGC NET exam on behalf of UGC. However, since December 2018, the responsibility of conducting the UGC NET exam has been taken over by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
