PremiumBudhni, MP Election Results 2023 Live: The Budhni Assembly Election Result 2023 was declared on December 3. The Election Commission started the counting of the votes at 8 am in the Budhni Assembly constituency to declare the results in the day.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh is currently eyeing a fifth consecutive term in office amid growing uncertainty about his presence at the helm. Chouhan faced off against Congress' Vikram Mastal several independent candidates. The Samajwadi Party fielded Vairagyanand Giri from his home turf.
The counting for 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh was held at 52 district headquarters. As many as 2,533 candidates were in the fray, including political bigwigs like CM Chouhan and his predecessor and rival Kamal Nath, in a poll that was largely a bipolar battle between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan secured a landslide victory against Congress candidate Vikram Mastal on Sunday. The senior BJP leader garnered 1,64,951 votes and 70.7% of the vote share while Congress candidate Vikram Mastal Sharma trailed far behind. He secured a mere 59,977 votes — creating a victory margin of 1,04,974 votes.
“We accept the decision of Madhya Pradesh voters in this contest of democracy. We, being the opposition party, will stick to our duty. I congratulate BJP and hope that they will live up to the people’s support they got," said Kamal Nath.
The former chief minister said he has always expressed his faith in voters of Madhya Pradesh and was “saying it even today".
“I hope that the BJP won’t betray the trust of the people," he said.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan won from the Budhni constituency by a margin of 1,04,974 votes. The BJP leader garnered 1,64,951 votes while trailing candidate Vikram Mastal secured 59,977 votes.
“We bow to the Janta Janardan. The results in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan indicate that the people of India are firmly with politics of good governance and development, which the BJP stands for. I thank the people of these states for their unwavering support and assure them that we will keep working tirelessly for their well-being. A special thanks to the hardworking Party Karyakartas. Each of them is exemplary! They have worked tirelessly and highlighted our development agenda among the people," he tweeted.
Election Commission data after 21 rounds of counting indicated that the BJP leader currently holds a 1,02,848 vote lead over his nearest rival — Congress candidate Vikram Mastal. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has so far secured 1,61,604 votes.
“No anti-incumbency wave was there in Madhya Pradesh. There is a pro-incumbency wave in Madhya Pradesh. I thank the people of MP and promise everyone that we will fulfil our guarantees," he said.
"I express my gratitude to every single person of the state. This is the result of the BJP's double engine government, PM Modi's leadership, guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shahji, and party president JP Naddaji, and welfare schemes implemented by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan...Ladli Behna scheme is a game-changer and the full credit for it goes to Shivraj Singh Chouhan," Scindia told ANI.
BJP is headling for landslide victory as Shivraj Singh Chouhan maintains a massive lead. The CM has garnered 119010 votes after 15 rounds of counting.
“I dedicate this win to our Ladli Behnas and PM Modi. We will take Madhya Pradesh forward...," Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan told party workers. Visuals also showed him seeks blessings of the party's women workers on Sunday afternoon.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has secured 100,578 votes after 12 rounds of counting and currently maintains a 71655 vote lead over his nearest Congress rival.
“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji is in the hearts of the people of Madhya Pradesh. The state is also in the heart of Modi ji. There is immense faith towards him. He held public meetings here and appealed to the people which has touched the people's hearts," Chouhan said in Bhopal.
BJP is headling for landslide victory as Shivraj Singh Chouhan maintains lead. The CM has garnered over 84,000 votes after 10 rounds of counting.
“The credit for this win goes to PM Modi, the party leadership and Ladli Behens of the state," said Kartikey Chouhan.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia met with incumbent Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at his Bhopal residence on Sunday. The BJP is headed towards a landslide win in the state and Chouhan currently holds a 50,000 vote lead in Budhni constituency.
Data shared by the Election Commission indicates that the BJP leader has polled 70453 votes. Meanwhile Congress candidate Vikram Mastal Sharma remains a distant second with 19457 votes.
“This is a great victory for BJP in Madhya Pradesh. BJP government has done work, people have faith in the double-engine government, the leadership of PM Modi and the performance of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. I congratulate everyone," said Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Data shared on the election commission website at 12:15 pm indicates that Congress candidate Vikram Mastal Sharma has polled 16,574 votes. The actor is trailing BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
As per the EC website, CM Chouhan is currently leading by 34417 votes
CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan says, "Modi ji MP ke mann mein hain aur Modi ji ke mann mein MP hai. He held public rallies here and appealed to the people and that touched people's hearts. These trends are a result of that. Double-engine government properly implemented the schemes of the Central Government and the schemes that were formed here also touched people's hearts. Madhya Pradesh became a family...I had said earlier too that the BJP would get a comfortable and grand majority as people's love for us was visible everywhere."
As per the latest number, CM Chouhan is leading by 13,000 votes in Budhni
The state electorate voted for 2,533 candidates in 230 constituencies. There were 5.59 lakh eligible voters. The counting of votes for all assembly seats began at 8 am at 52 district headquarters amid tight security.
In 2013 and 2018, BJP's Shivraj Singh Chouhan secured victory in the Budhni constituency, triumphing over Congress candidates Dr. Mahendra Singh Chauhan and Arun Subhashchandra Yadav with margins of 84,805 and 58,999 votes, respectively.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan – a BJP heavyweight who has already won several terms from Budhni – will take on Congress candidate Vikram Mastal. The 40-year-old had gained prominence for essaying the role of 'Hanuman' in the 2008 TV serial 'Ramayan 2'.
Political observers believe the Congress has pared down the contest for Chouhan by fielding a lightweight candidate who is new to politics and the electorate of the constituency.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party nominated Vairagyanand Giri, aka ‘Mirchi Baba’ from Budhni. He had previously gained prominence in 2019 after performing a ‘havan’ with chillies for the “victory" of Congress leader Digvijaya Singh from Bhopal. The Lok Sabha constituency was however won by BJP’s Pragya Singh Thakur.

The incumbent Chief Minister, victorious in four consecutive elections since 2006, secured a substantial win in the last election against Arun Yadav. In the upcoming contest, he will be challenged by television actor Vikram Matsal, renowned for portraying Hanuman in the 2008 Ramayan reboot.
The counting begins for Budhni seat from where Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is contesting.
CM Chouhan earlier this week claimed his party would retain power with a “huge majority".
The counting for 230 assembly seats in MP will start at 8 am.
Besides CM Chouhan (from Budhni seat) and state Congress president Nath (Chhindwara), the EVMs will also decide the fate of three BJP Union ministers – Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel and Faggan Singh Kulaste.
It will also decide the political fortunes of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijaywrgiya who contested from Indore-1 and three Lok Sabha MPs of the saffron party – Rakesh Singh, Ganesh Singh and Riti Pathak
