Delhi Election 2025: The Congress released its manifesto for the Delhi Assembly polls on Wednesday.

Days ahead of the Delhi Assembly Election 2025, the Congress released its manifesto, promising 33 per cent reservation in government jobs for women, health insurance for the elderly, free ration kit and welfare of the youth and the LBBTQ+ community.

These were just a few of the guarantees the Congress promised in its manifesto, which was divided into 22 focus areas. The manifesto was unveiled by Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Wednesday, January 29. He was flanked by Congress communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh.

Delhi Congress manifesto: Key promises

Other provisions included schemes for the welfare of the youth in the national capital. As per the manifesto, the party will provide financial assistance of 8,500 per month for a year to educated unemployed youth if voted to power. It added that contract jobs will be ended, and all jobs will be made regular jobs. 

Besides, widows' daughters will be given 1.1 lakh for marriage.

The Congress also promised to conduct a caste census and set up a ministry for Purvanchalis if it is voted to power in the capital. The party said it will give a monthly grant of 2,500 to women, free electricity up to 300 units and LPG cylinders at 500.

Free health insurance of up to 25 lakh and free ration kits were also among the party's guarantees. Pension will be increased from 2,500 to 5,000.

The party also proposed to launch 100 Indira canteens across the city that would offer meals at 5.

Welfare of LFBTQ+ community

For the welfare of the LGTBQ+ community, the Congress said, "We will review state rules and regulations to ensure inclusion and prevent discrimination against people who identify as LGBTQIA..."

"We will provide reservation to the transgender community in education and jobs as per the 2014 AgeALS decision of the Supreme Court," the Congress said.

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi's party promised to provide scholarship and hostel facilities to the members of the transgender community. The manifesto also mentioned providing universally accessible toilets for the community in public places.

"We will provide reservation to the transgender community in education and jobs as per the 2014 AgeALS decision of the Supreme Court," the Congress said.

The party said it would ensure that all government departments, institutions, and schools receive sensitivity training on LGBTQIA rights.
