The results will decide the fate of Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra. The results will also decide Hemant Soren's fate on whether he gets a go for a second term in Jharkhand.
While Maharashtra conducted voting for all 288 constituencies in a single phase, Jharkhand's fate was sealed in two phases conducted on November 13, and November 20.
Maharashtra
In Maharashtra, the Mahayuti alliance is set to achieve a sweeping victory in the Assembly elections, securing a majority win of over 200 seats and overshadowing the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). The primary contest is between the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). While the contest is close, the exit polls slightly favour the Mahayuti, predicting a narrow majority for the alliance.
The ruling Mahayuti alliance comprises of the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) includes Shiv Sena (UBT faction), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress.
Jharkhand
In Jharkhand, the INDIA bloc won by securing 56 seats.The battle was primarily a two-way fight between the JMM-led alliance and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Pradeep Gupta's Axis My India predicted a victory for the JMM-led INDIA bloc in the state with a share of 53 seats.
Prominent candidates include Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpana Soren, and his sister-in-law Sita Soren from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
Key Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates include former CM Babulal Marandi, Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahto (JMM), AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto, and Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri.

The BJP and its allies won the majority of seats in UP by-elections for 48 assembly seats held across 13 seats.
Election Results 2024 Highlights: Terming Mahayuti's landslide victory a huge change in Maharshtra, BJP leader Ashok Chavan, said that Congress has no leadership in the state.
"A huge change has come in Maharashtra. Mahayuti has got a huge mandate. Congress has no leadership and it does not have any leader left. People have understood that if we stay together, there is benefit," Ashok Chavan told ANI.
“This Maharashtra election has exposed the double face of the INDI-Aghadi...The Congress leadership has constantly insulted Veer Savarkar across the country. They have even abused him," PM Modi.
To get votes in Maharashtra, these people temporarily stopped abusing him. But not even once have they spoken the truth about Savarkar's sacrifice and this shows their double face. Their only motive is to defame Veer Savarkar," he added.
“...The Congress family cannot live without power. It can do anything to win elections. Today, urban Naxalism of Congress has become a new challenge for India. The remote control of urban Naxalites is outside the country and that is why everyone has to be very careful of this urban Naxalism. Today, the youth of the country, everyone has to understand the reality of Congress," ANI quoted PM Modi.
PM Narendra Modi said, "Development, good governance and social justice have won in Maharashtra. Lies and deceit have suffered a crushing defeat..." while addressing BJP members.
“The results are unbelievable, unexpected. I have been in politics since 1982. I have been MP four times, MLA five times. We have been talking to people in all the corners of Maharashtra, doing public meetings, but this result is unbelievable, unacceptable, because it is contrary to the people's emotions," Ramesh Chennithala said.
"We have talked to leaders, workers, journalists, all the section of the society, but nobody expected this result. The fight was between Mahayuti, and MVA. Exit polls had come, but we cannot believe this result," he added.
In a post on X Union Minister Amit Shah congratulates NDA members over the historic victory in Maharashtra.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi thanked the people of Jharkhand and congratulated Hemant Soren. He also said that the results in Maharashtra were unexpected, and the party would analyse them.
"Heartfelt thanks to the people of Jharkhand for giving a huge mandate to India. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Chief Minister Hemant Soren ji, all the workers of Congress and JMM for this victory.
This victory of the alliance in the state is a victory of the protection of water, forest and land along with the Constitution.
The results of Maharashtra are unexpected and we will analyse them in detail.
Thanks to all the voter brothers and sisters of the state for their support and to all the workers for their hard work," Rahul Gandhi wrote on X.

“Today the public has shown that which is Balasaheb's Shiv Sena...They (Congress) raise objections wherever they lose...Is EVM correct in Jharkhand...When they win the EVM is correct, when the loss there is a problem in EVM…" reported ANI quoting Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde.
BJP candidate and former CM Champai Soren was quoted by ANI, "We respect the mandate that has come." The JMM-led alliance is leading in Jharkhand.
Hemant Soren's wife, Kalpana Soren thanked people of the state as she continues to lead in Gandey constituency.
“I want to thank the people of Gandey, Giridih, and the people of the state for showering love on me and blessing me like their daughter," ANI quoted Kalpana Soren.
While speaking about the new CM face Devendra Fadnavis said, "There will be no dispute on the CM's face. It was decided from day one that after the elections, the leaders of the three parties will sit together and decide on this. The decision will be acceptable to everyone, there is no dispute on this."
Election Results 2024 Highlights: Speaking on the results, Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena member Priyanka Chaturvedi asked for the need to check EVMs.
“The results have come as a surprise. The way our lead of 151 seats in Lok Sabha was reduced to this in the Assembly elections, a question arises how did such a difference come? All the surveys showed a close contest or Maha Vikas Aghadi was given an edge...I went to so many places in Maharashtra where people told me that they would vote for us but we should pay attention to EVMs. For me, mentally it is quite unacceptable and this type of result raises the question of whether this was truly a free and fair election?" Chaturvedi was quoted by ANI.
