PremiumExit Poll Election Results: The exit poll results on Monday predicted a big majority for the BJP in Gujarat while most of them gave an edge to it in Himachal Pradesh, indicating re-election of the ruling party in both states. However, two exit polls showed a dead heat between the BJP and the Congress in Himachal where results could go either way. The exit polls have also indicated the probable winner for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls.
The post-poll survey, commonly known as exit poll, is conducted after voters exit the polling station after casting their vote. The exit polls are conducted on random sampling or systematic sampling. However, the accuracy of these exit polls is a long debate since time immemorial. There have been multiple instances in the past when exit polls have failed to capture the precise mood of the voters.
More than 50% of voter turnout was recorded till 3pm, according to the data released by the Election Commission of India.
The post-poll survey, popularly known as exit polls, will predict the results for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh this evening. The poll results will also be predicted for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.
Around 50.51% voter turnout has been recorded till 3 pm in the second and the last phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections, says the Election Commission of India.
The lowest turnout was seen in Mahisagar (29.72 pc). Gandhinagar, where the top leaders of the BJP including PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel cast their votes, witnessed 36.49 per cent voting.
According to the latest data by the Election Commission, Sabarkantha recorded the highest turnout with 39.73 per cent polling.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has said, “I hope BJP will have a massive defeat in Gujarat... I believe SP will get a good number of votes in Mainpuri byelections, people will vote for us... BJP must allow the central agencies (Election Commission) to operate freely, BJP is misusing them."
According to the Election Commission of India, Gujarat has recorded 19.17% voter turnout till 11 am. Chhotaudepur constituency has recorded the highest voter turnout at 23.25% till 11 am today.
BJP candidate from Gujarat's Viramgam Hardik Patel cast his vote for the second phase of Assembly polls in the state and said that the party would win with a big margin securing 150 seats.
Patel cast his vote at Polling Booth 264 in Chandranagar Primary School.
"The people of Gujarat will vote for development. A model of security and good governance has emerged in the country and in the world. This model will further strengthen in the coming days. PM Modi says this election is not normal," Patel told ANI.
"This election will decide the future of the next 20 years of Gujarat. Every single vote is being cast in favour of the BJP. We will form a government with 150 seats and with a big margin. Poeple trust BJP," he added.
“I appeal to everyone to vote, especially the first-time voters - the young girls and boys should vote," Home Minister Amit Shah told media persons after casting his vote in Ahmedabad.

“Cong is winning. Our candidate Kanti Kharadi was attacked last night and were untraceable for 3 hrs. We called up EC, reached Gandhinagar at 1.30 am and called them to come there. Complaints by our other candidates are also coming," Thakor told ANI.
“Baldev Thakor is contesting from Kalol and it was turned into a Police camp, there was an atmosphere of fear. It shows that BJP is losing and with the help of Police and Govt machinery they are influencing the polling. Our workers and leaders will contest bravely & win," he added.
In the second phase of Gujarat polls, 16 urban Assembly seats in Ahmedabad city are crucial for the Bharatiya Janata Party which has always enjoyed an upper hand here in the elections since 1990.
The new entrant, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also fielded its candidates on all these 16 seats.
Political analysts claim the BJP, which currently holds 12 out of these 16 seats, will win most of them and the AAP may fail to make any impact. (PTI)
The BJP and the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP are contesting in all 93 seats. The Congress is contesting 90 seats and its alliance partner Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in two segments. Among other parties, the Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) has fielded 12 candidates and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) 44.

From the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharat Vakhala from Devgadhbaria, Bheema Chaudhary from Deodar, Dolat Patel from Gandhinagar South, Kunwarji Thakor from Viramgam and Vijay Patel from Ghatlodia will test their electoral fortunes in the second and final phase today.

The BJP is seeking a seventh straight term in Gujarat where the new poll entrant Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has added a third dimension to the traditional bipolar contest between the saffron party and the Congress.

The polling parties in Gujarat have gathered at the EVM distribution centre in Gandhinagar on Sunday ahead of the second phase of polling in the state.

Just hours before the voting in the second phase of Gujarat Assembly polls on Monday, Congress sitting MLA Kanti Kharadi from Scheduled Tribes reserved Danta seat in Banaskantha district in North Gujarat has claimed that he was assaulted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ladhu Parghi.
"I was going to my voters. BJP candidate Ladhu Parghi along with L K Barad and his brother Vadan ji were amongst those who attacked us. They were carrying weapons with them and attacked me with swords," Kanti Kharadi told ANI.
The first phase of voting for 89 seats in Kutch, Saurashtra and South Gujarat ended on December 1, with an overall turnout of 63.31 per cent.
