Jangpura Election Results 2025 Highlights: Aam Aadmi Party which was betting on former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, has conceded defeat from the Jungpura constituency to BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah.
Meanwhile, BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah has won the Jangpura against AAP's Manish Sisodia by 675 votes after 10 rounds of counting, said Election Commission. According to EC data, BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah has 38,859 votes, while former deputy CM currently has 38,184 votes.
The counting of votes began for Jangpura Assembly seat from 8 am on Saturday. Aam Aadmi party is betting on former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to save their bastion this time.
The former deputy CM, former education and finance minister Manish Sisodia is facing tough contest from BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress' Farhad Suri. The seat has been a strong hold for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the past three Assembly polls.
The Jungpura Assembly seat has been with the AAP since 2013 and for the past two Assembly elections – 2015 and 2020, AAP's Praveen Kumar has been representing the constituency. In 2020, AAP's Praveen Kumar won the Jungpura Assembly seat with 45,133 vote and in 2015, he won by 43,927 votes.
Jungpura is situated in South East district, and this time, former deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is contesting the seat, who is being challenged by Bharatiya Janata Party's Sardar Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress's Farhad Suri.
In the recently concluded elections on February 5, over 60 per cent of the national capital's 1.5 crore voters turned out for the election for 70 assembly seats.
Also, in almost all the exit polls, it was predicted that the BJP might be headed for a victory, which may end the AAP's decade-long rule in the national capital.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia walked out of Tihar jail after 17 months on August 9. The Supreme Court granted bail to the senior leader in corruption and money laundering cases in relation to the Delhi excise policy "scam" case. In its verdict, the apex court mentioned the importance the principle of bail is a rule and jail is an exception since Sisodia was in jail for 17 months.
The former Deputy Chief Minister was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, 2023 for alleged discrepancies in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy, which has been scrapped now.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Sisodia in the money laundering case in relation from the CBI FIR on March 9, 2023. He had resigned from the Delhi government cabinet on February 28, 2023.
The fight in Jangpura would be a tough as BJP has placed Tarvinder Singh Marwah. Notably, Marwah had always contested from Janhpura as Congress candiate. However, he left the party and joined and joined the BJP in 2022. He had also won from the constituency three times on a Congress ticket in 1998, 2003 and 2008.

12:36 PM: Manish Sisodia conceded defeat, says 'We will analyse'
Aam Aadmi Party which was betting on former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, has conceded defeat from the Jungpura constituency to BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah. He said, as quoted By ANI, "Party workers fought well; we all did hard work. People have supported us as well. But, I lose by 600 votes. I congratulate the candidate who won. I hope he will work for the constituency."
Tarvinder Singh Marwah is leading in Jangpura against AAP's Manish Sisodia by 572 votes, early trends by Election Commission show. According to EC data, the deputy CM currently has 34,060 votes while BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah has 34,632 votes.
