Karnataka Assembly Election result 2023: These new MLAs won by a margin of 50,000 votes or more

The Congress secured a landslide victory in the recently concluded Karnataka Assembly elections with several candidates recording a win margin of 50,000 votes or more. And while some new members of the 224 seat Assembly won by a scant handful of votes, others left their rivals gasping in the dust. Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar incidentally tops this list with a margin of 1,22,392 votes - maintaining a winning streak since 1989.
Here are some of the candidates who won the elections by a margin of 50,000 votes or more:
- Chamrajpet - Congress candidate BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan defeated former Bengaluru Police Commissioner and BJP candidate Bhaskar Rao, by a margin of 53,953 votes.
- Athani - Congress candidate Laxman Sangappa Savadi won by 76,122 votes from the Belagavi district of the Mumbai-Bengaluru region. His closest rival was BJP's Mahesh Kumathalli.
- Belgaum Rural - Congress leader Laxmi Hebbalkar defeated BJP candidate Nagesh Manolkar by a margin of over 56,016 votes.
- Chamrajpet - Congress candidate BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan defeated Bhaskar Rao of BJP by a margin of 53,953 votes.
- Chikkodi-Sadalga - Ganesh Hukkeri of the Congress party won the Assembly seat of Chikkodi-Sadalga by a margin of 78,509 votes.
- Chitradurga - Congress candidate KC Veerendra Puppy outshone his closest rival – GH Thippa Reddy of the BJP – by a margin of 53,300 votes.
- Kolar Gold Field - Congress' Roopa Kala M defeated BJP's Ashwini Sampangi by a margin of 50,467 votes.
- Kollegal - AR Krishnamurthy of the Congress won by a margin of 59,519 votes against BJP's N Mahesh.
- Kudligi - Congress candidate Srinivas NT bagged the seat with a victory margin of 54,350 votes. His closest rival was Lokesh Nayaka of BJP.
- Pulakeshinagar - Congress leader AC Srinivasa defeated BSP candidate Akanda Srinivasa Murthy R by 62,133 votes.
- Sarvagnanagar - Kelachandra Joseph George of Congress defeated Padmanabha Reddy of the BJP by 55,768 votes.
- Yemkanmardi - Congress candidate Satish Jarkiholi defeated BJP's Basavaraj Hundri by 57,211 votes.
- Basavanagudi - BJP candidate Ravi Subramanya LA won by a margin of 54,978 votes against Congress' UB Venkatesh.
- Khanapur - BJP's Vithal Somanna Halagekar defeated his Congress opponent Dr. Anjali Hemant Nimbalkar by a margin of 54629 votes.
- Mahalakshmi Layout - BJP leader K Gopalaiah defeated his rival candidate Congress' Keshavamurthy by a margin of 51,165 votes.
- Padmanaba Nagar - BJP's R Ashoka defeated Congress' V Raghunatha Naidu by a margin of 55,175 votes.
