As the vote counting reaches near its completion, it has become clear that the Indian National Congress will form the government in Karnataka. With this, the BJP has lost its only state in southern India. The official list of winners includes some leaders who won the election victory margins as small as 105 votes.
The list includes names of leaders like Dinesh Gundu Rao, Sowmya Reddy, etc, who won the election with as low as 105 votes. Here is the full list of candidates who won after facing neck-to-neck competition with their competitors.
Dinesh Gundo Rao of the Indian National Congress registered his victory by securing a total of 54118 votes in the Gandhi Nagar constituency. The Congress minister won by a very thin margin of 105 votes from BJP’s Satpthagiri Gowda AR. He secured a total of 54014 votes. Another major players in the constituency was JDS’ V Narayanaswamy.
In Sringeri, Indian National Congress’ TD Rajegowda is ahead of his counterpart by 167 votes, according to EC data as of 5:20 pm. TD Rajegowda had secured 59030 votes by the time of writing this report. The trailing candidate of the BJP, DN Jeevaraja, had secured a total of 58863 votes.
In Malur, Congress KY Nanjegowda won the elections with a very close margin of 248 votes. He received a total of 50955 votes, which was 29.4 per cent of the total voter count. The runner-up candidate of BJP, KS Manjunathagowda received a total of 50707 votes, equal to 29.26 per cent.
Indian National Congress leader, Sowmya Reddy, was ahead in election by 294 votes in the Jayanagar constituency, according to EC data as on 5:20 pm. The leader registered a total of 52,817 votes, which was around 50.7% of the total vote count. The runner-up candidate of BJP, CK Ramamurthy, received a total of 57297 votes.
In Jagalur, Indian National Congress’ B Devendrappa, won the election with a close margin of 874 votes. The winner received a total of 50,765 votes, which was equivalent to 32.4 per cent. The runner-up candidate of the race was BJP’s SV Ramachandra, who secured 49,891 votes, equivalent to 31.88 per cent of the total vote count.
In Chincholi, BJP candidate Avinash Umesh Jadhav won the election from Congress’ Subhash V Rathod with 858 votes. The winner received a total of 69,963 votes, 46.66 per cent. The runner-up candidate received a total of 69105 votes, 46.09 per cent.
