Sircilla, Telangana Election Results 2023 Highlights: BRS retains throne, KCR’s son K T Rama Rao wins with 89,244 votes

KCR's son KT Rama Rao of BRS has won from Sircilla, successfully defeating Congress and BJP. Rao has secured 89244 votes and won the polls with a margin of 29, 687 votes against Congress' K.K. Mahender Reddy and BJP's Rani Rudrama Reddy. However, Congress has crossed the majority mark in Telangana, clinching 64 seats so far and is set to dethrone the K Chandrashekar Rao-led BRS government.

As per the latest trends from the ECI, the Congress was leading in 64 seats in 119-member Telangana Assembly. The BRS was leading in 39 seats, BJP in 8, AIMIM in 7 and CPI on 1.

The state recorded a voter turnout of 71.34 per cent. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are key political parties among 109 national and regional parties contesting the elections. As many as 2,290 candidates, including 221 women and one transgender, are in the fray.

Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy says, "...KTR welcomed Congress' govt...This spirit should continue when we (Congress) run the govt. 10 years you (BRS) were in power and now you will sit in the Opposition. We value the opinion of the Opposition..."

Telangana CM KCR's dream of hitting a hat trick was shattered as Congress has crossed the majority mark in Telangana and is set to dethrone the K Chandrashekar Rao-led BRS government. KCR is now at number three behind Revanth Reddy and the BJP candidate in the Kamareddy Assembly seat, however, he is leading from the Gajwel seat.

The EC website shows, KT Rama Rao has so far got 10199 votes while Mahender Reddy is trailing with 7578 votes. Earlier in 2018, KTR had emerged victorious with a vote count of 125213 votes and a margin of 89009 votes.

The Congress was leading in 65 out of the 119 seats in Telangana on Sunday when the votes polled in the November 30 Assembly elections were taken up for counting. The initial trends showed the national party was racing ahead of the incumbent BRS, which was leading in 39 seats. At the start of counting at 8 am, postal ballots were first taken up. BJP and AIMIM were ahead in 6 and 4 seats, respectively. The simple majority mark to form government in the southern state is 60 seats.

KT Rama Rao, the son of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is contesting from the Sircilla seat, which he won in 2018 by a significant margin of over 89,000 votes.
