PremiumTelangana Election Results 2023 Highlights: The results for the elections to 119-member Telangana assembly have been declared. The voting for the Telangana Assembly Election was held on November 30. The state recorded a voter turnout of 71.34 percent. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were the key political parties in the elections. As many as 2,290 candidates, including 221 women and one transgender, contested the election.
The Congress emerged as the winner crossing the halfway mark, winning 64 seats in the state. BRS won 39 seats, followed by the BJP that won 8 and AIMIM that won 7. CPI won 1 seat.
As Congress looks to form government in the state, Telangana party chief Revanth Reddy, addressing a press conference, said that the national party's responsibility has increased. "On December 3 2023, 4 crore Telangana people have given a verdict. Now democracy has been strengthened," Reddy said.
Commenting on the poll results, prime minister Narendra Modi said, "Our bond with Telangana is unbreakable, we will keep working for people, says PM Modi on assembly poll result."
The poll results come as a major disappointment for BRS as CM KCR was eyeing a third term in the state.
In 2018, BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samithi) won 88 of the 119 seats and had 47.4 per cent of the vote share. The Congress came a distant second with just 19 seats.
Among the key candidates this election were Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), his minister-son K T Rama Rao, state Congress President A Revanth Reddy and BJP Lok Sabha members Bandi Sanjay Kumar and D Arvind.

As the Congress crossed the majority mark in Telangana, party's Member of Parliament Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the party is on road to victory as we corrected the mistakes committed in 2014 and 2018 elections.
Uttam Kumar Reddy told ANI "Congress will form the government. The biggest reason for our win will be that the people of Telangana love the Gandhi family. There is a special place in their hearts. We made a mistake in the 2014 and 2018 elections. This time we corrected ourselves and are on the road to victory."
As happiness spreads in the Congress cadre after gaining the majority in Telangana, state Congress Committee president Revanth Reddy participated in a roadshow in Hyderabad. As per the Election Commission, Anumula Revanth Reddy is leading from both seats--Kodangal and Kamareddy.
Earlier, Congress workers also poured milk on a poster featuring Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, party MP Rahul Gandhi and state party chief Revanth Reddy as the party continues its lead in the state.
As per EC website, Congress is currently leading in 63 seats while BRS is leading in 41 seats
Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar and other Police officials met state Congress president Revanth Reddy at his residence in Hyderabad. Reddy is currently leading ahead of KCR in Kamareddy. Congress party too is leading with 64 seats while KCR with 40 seats.
While speaking to reporters, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said, "The people of Telangana have decided that there must be change, there must be change for progress, and development. He (Revanth Reddy) is the PCC president. He is the team leader. Our party will take the decision (on the CM's face). The election was fought on collective leadership. I do not want to comment on KCR or KTR, the people of Telangana have given them an answer..."

As per the ECI website, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, who joined the Indian National Congress in 2009, is trailing in the electoral race against Maganti Gopinath (the current legislator) of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti. As per EC website, BRS's Maganti Gopinath is leading with 5266 votes while Mohammed Azharuddin has managed to get 4141.

Renuka Chowdhury says Congress has no doubt on its MLAs and explains the post-election process of electing a CM and preparing a report. Earlier, Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury claimed that she received calls from several BRS leaders expressing their willingness to join the grand old party if the situation demands.
"They (BRS) took 12 of our MLAs last time. Last time they took our people but this time they will have to try that their people do not come to us. Our leaders are receiving calls, I also received calls asking if we need their help. They are willing to join us if that's the situation. So they have to be careful, that they do not lose their leaders," Renuka Chowdhury told ANI.

Telangana Election Results 2023 Live: BRS MP K Keshava Rao tells ANI that Congress is fighting a lone battle in Telangana and claims that the party has no supporters in the state.
"As per my studies, we have a comfortable majority to get into power...Congress is fighting a lone battle, they have no supporters. They have to get the seats all by themselves...But BJP and AIMIM are sure to support us in case of need..." he says.

Telangana Assembly Election Results 2023 Live: Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy on Saturday alleged the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for misusing power and violating the Model Code of Conduct by disbursing the money meant for the Rythu Bandhu scheme in an illegal manner to favourite contractors.
Reddy said that he has submitted a complaint to the CEO of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme of the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the same.
"We submitted a complaint to ECI SVEEP CEO Vikas Raj Garu against the BRS government of misusing power, in violation of MCC, is disbursing ₹6,000 crore Rythu Bandhu in an illegal manner to favourite contractors," Reddy posted on X.
