BJP appoints election incharges, co-incharges for Bihar, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal

The BJP made key appointments for poll-bound states, including for next year, naming Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan as its election in-charge of Bihar.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appointed election incharges and co-incharges for key poll-bound states – Bihar, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal — on Thursday. Here's a list of who has been appointed what:

Bihar election in-charge: Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan

Bihar election co-incharge: CR Paatil and Keshav Prasad Maurya

Tamil Nadu election in-charge: Baijayant 'Jay' Panda

Tamil Nadu election co-incharge: Union minister Murlidhar Mohol

West Bengal election incharge: Union minister Bhupendra Yadav

West Bengal election co-incharge: Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb

While the Bihar assembly elections are expected to be held in November, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu are likely to go to polls in March-April.

Bihar Elections 2025

The BJP made important appointments for key poll-bound states, including for next year, naming Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan as its election in-charge of Bihar.

Pradhan is among the most experienced poll managers of the BJP and have overseen elections in several states.

A BJP statement said Union minister CR Paatil, who heads the party's Gujarat unit and is considered a capable organisation hand, and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya are co-incharges for the Bihar polls.

The Bihar Assembly Election are likely to take place in November this year. The main battle is likely to be between the National Democratic Alliance [NDA] and the Mahagathbandh.

The NDA, which consists of the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, will be once again looking forward to returning to power. Meanwhile, the INDIA Bloc will be giving competition to the incumbent Nitish Kumar government.

Meanwhile, best known as a political consultant and strategist, Prashant Kishor has vowed to contest and win the Bihar Elections 2025. This time, he will not make strategies but test the waters himself.

Several opinion polls suggest that RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav is the top choice for the next Bihar chief minister. One of the opinion polls revealed that while the popularity of Yadav and Nitish Kumar declined, that of Prashant Kishor rose in six months.

The Bihar Election 2025 will be the first election the country will witness after Operation Sindoor, which was launched on May 7 by the Indian armed forces in response to the April 2022 Pahalgam terror attack.

From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, top political leaders have recently visited Bihar. Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav are also in the electoral fray with full force.

Assembly elections are scheduled for next year in West Bengal. The TMC is in power in the state and Mamata Banerjee has been Chief Minister of Bengal since 2011.
