Radhika Merchant, and the Ambanis have also arrived for the ceremony.
In addition to the Bollywood stars such as Rohit Shetty, Vidya Balan, industrialist KM Birla has also arrived for the swearing in of the Maharashtra CM.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, JP Nadda were also spotted at Azad Maidan for the oath-taking ceremony of Maharashtra's new CM.
This marks Devendra Fadnavis's third term as chief minister. In his first term, he served from 2014 to 2019. In his second term, Fadnavis held the position for five days starting on November 25.
In 2019, when the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena broke ties with the BJP over the Chief Minister's post, Fadnavis was sworn in again, with Ajit Pawar as his deputy. However, this government lasted only 72 hours due to Pawar's inability to secure sufficient support from NCP MLAs.
Maharashtra's ex-CM, Eknath Shinde has been sworn in as one of Devendra Fadnavis's two deputies, ending a 24-hour period of uncertainty over whether the Shiv Sena chief would be included in the Mahayuti 2.0 government. NCP's Ajit Pawar also took the oath as Deputy Chief Minister.
Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the swearing-in of the new government was attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of NDA-led state governments, former Maharashtra Chief Ministers, foreign diplomats, actors from the Hindi and Marathi film industries, and beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin welfare scheme.
Special arrangements were made to accommodate 40,000 BJP supporters, with a separate seating area designated for 2,000 VVIPs, including religious leaders. Additionally, over 4,000 police personnel were deployed to ensure security.
The Mahayuti alliance secured a historic victory in the assembly elections, winning 235 seats in the 288-member House, decisively defeating the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which won only 50 seats.
