Axis My India has predicted 189 seats for Mahayuti, 90 for MVA in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the BJP-led NDA is also likely to oust the ruling INDIA bloc in Jharkhand, as per majority of the exit poll results declared on Wednesday. However, Axis My India predicted that JMM and its INDIA bloc allies are likely to retain Jharkhand.
The first results have predicted a clear victory for Mahayuti in Maharashtra. The pollsters, in first predictions, have given edge to the BJP-led NDA in Jharkhand too.
Pollster, Matrize has predicted 150-170 seats to Mahayuti, 110-130 seats to MVA and 8-10 seats to others. The majority mark in Maharashtra assembly is 145. Mahayuti may win 137-157 seats in Maharashtra, according to P-Marq pollster. The MVA may get 126-146 seats, according to this pollster.
The News24-Channakya exit poll has predicted that the ruling Mahayuti alliance will win 152-160 seats while the MVA will win 130-138 seats in Maharashtra.
The pollsters, in first predictions, have also given edge to NDA in Jharkhand too. The People's Pulse has given BJP-led NDA 42-48 seats and 16-23 seats to JMM. The pollster has given 8-14 seats to Congress, which is a JMM ally.
What are Exit Polls?
Exit Polls are predictions based on voter feedback collected by survey agencies after the polling. The basic idea behind exit polls is to reflect public sentiment well before the actual results. However, their accuracy has often faced scrutiny.
The TV channels and other survey organisations can start releasing exit poll results after 6.30 pm, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. These poll results cannot be published until half an hour after the polling ends, in accordance with Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
Maharashtra, Jharkhand Exit Polls
The contest in Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 is largely bipolar between two alliances – the Mayayuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is in alliance with Ajit Pawar-led NCP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in the ruling Mahayuti banner. The opposition MVA alliance comprises the Shiv Sena (UBT), the NCP (Sharad Pawar) and the Congress party.
In Jharkhand, the fight is between the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led INDIA bloc and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
What did Exit Polls say in 2019?
In the 2019 assembly elections, the exit polls were generally correct in predicting the results for Maharashtra and Jharkhand. However, the numbers were not entirely accurate when compared to the final results.
In Maharashtra, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of the BJP and the Shiv Sena (SHS) won a majority. However, the alliance was dissolved after differences over the government formation precipitated a political crisis.
The JMM emerged as the largest party with 30 seats in the 2019 Assembly Elections, while the BJP won 25 seats. The Congress won 16 seats, the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) got 3 seats, and the All Jharkhand Students Union won 2 seats.
The JMM formed a government with the support of the Congress and the RJD.

Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE Updates: Pune NCP president Deepak Mankar said that the public has supported his party as its candidates have done good work in their constituencies. He also claimed that Mahayuti would win around 180 seats in Maharashtra Assembly Election.
Speaking to ANI about the exit polls, Mankar said, “The whole atmosphere stands in support of the Mahayuti in Maharashtra. We work on the ground level and that is why we know that the public supports the work that we do. It will be disclosed in these elections. I think Mahayuti will get 180 seats here. Our candidates have done good work in their constituencies. In Pune also, Mahayuti will win all the 8 seats."
Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE Updates: A day ahead of vote counting in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) President Prakash Ambedkar has said that his party will choose the coalition which will emerge stronger after the vote counting.
"If VBA gets the numbers, tomorrow, to support a party or an alliance to form the government in Maharashtra, we will choose to be with one who can form the government. We will choose power!" posted Prakash Ambedkar on X.
Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE Updates: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi took a jibe at Mahayuti and said that the people of Maharashtra will free Mahayuti for next 25 years.
Ahead of the vote counting in the state, the leader told ANI, “People of Maharashtra are going to free them (Mahayuti) for the next 25 years. The government of loot, corruption and Adani is going to end. We will get the majority. They are booking helicopters because they know people will ask them questions and they need to run away."
Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE Updates: Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut exuded confidence upon the victory of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and said , "The results will be out tomorrow. We are sure that we are going to get the majority. 160-165 of our MLAs would be elected... The 'Khokha walas' will pressurise them, so we have made an arrangement for them to stay together in a hotel... Sharad Pawar, Congress and Uddhav Thackeray will have a role to play (in choosing the CM face)... The MVA will get the complete majority and we will make a unanimous decision... Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE Updates: BJP leader Pratul Shah Deo on Friday said that only one day is left for he JMM to be happy ahead of the vote counting results.
Attacking the party, Deo said that JMM can be happy for now because the reality on November 23 will be rude for them.
"Only a day is left in the counting to begin and only a day is left for the JMM to be happy. They can daydream and be happy for now because the reality on the evening of November 23 is going to be very rude for them. People have ousted them and voted against the misgovernance, loot and false promises that occurred in the last 5 years. Our voting percentage has also increased, with this, we believe that NDA's majority government will be formed in Jharkhand tomorrow evening and JMM can day-dream for one more day," he said.
Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE Updates: Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot on Friday said that MVA is united and clarified that there would be no issue among alliance constituents in deciding on the CM post.
"There is a visible desire among voters to have a change in Maharashtra because this double engine government that was running was not living up to any of the expectations that the voters had," he said.
Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE Updates: Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahay said that the JMM-led alliance has historically dominated Jharkhand's area where the second phase of polling took place.
"The areas where polling took place in the second phase of elections, the JMM-INDIA alliance has always swept polls and BJP ever got even one seat. JMM's tally will only increase, not reduce. BJP could not raise even one issue during their campaign based on which they could claim to bring change...Hemant (Soren) will certainly become the CM again," the Congress leader said.

The Congress MP pointed out that in the Lok Sabha elections, exit polls predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would win over 400 seats, but the actual number was 240.

Congress leader Surendra Rajput, in an interaction with ANI, said that exit polls were never right for the BJP or for their own party and expressed hope that the MVA government will be formed in Maharashtra.
Speaking to ANI, Rajput said, "The exit poll was showing them crossing 400 and our government being formed in Haryana. The exit poll was neither right for them nor for us. Whatever attitude the public had towards these "Gaddars", we have full hope that the MVA government will be formed in Maharashtra. Women, farmers, and youth, none of them wants a Mahayuti government to be formed. We are confident that we will repeat in Jharkhand and we will bring about a change in Maharashtra."

Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE Updates: Former chief election commissioner SY Quraishi on Tuesday declared the exit polls as an illegal practice.
The statement was made before the Jharkhand and Maharashtra Assembly Election voting. While addressing the GVG Krishnamurty Memorial Lecture, QUiraishi had asked when the conduct of exit polls is banned during the "prohibited period" -- from the day of commencement of voting for the first phase till half-an-hour after the end of polling in the last phase -- how are they being held.
He said when exit polls cannot be conducted in that period, how can be shown soon after conclusion of polls.
"There is one patent illegality happening before our eyes and the eyes of the EC with the involvement of EC," he said.
