With Congress snatching away Bharatiya Janata Party's last citadel in South India in the recently concluded Assembly elections, Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh tried explaining why people voted for Congress, rather than a ruling government.

According to Ramesh, people in India, and especially Karnataka, are tired of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Modi and his campaigns. Despite the number of roadshows, PM Modi did, people were not enthusiastic, claimed Ramesh.

"People are tired of PM & his campaign, no matter how many roadshows he did...but people were not enthusiastic...", said Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications.

"Bajrang Dal is different and Bajrang Bali is different. Bajrang Dal believes in spreading the politics of hatred & violence...what Congress said in its manifesto is any organisation that breaks the law, spreads religious hatred, religious bigotry, spreads communal violence will be dealt with according to the law & constitution," he said.

Earlier on 13 May, Congress swept the Karnataka Assembly elections by winning 135 constituencies, while BJP managed to win only 66 seats. Janata Dal (Secular), which had claimed to be a kig maker, could only win 19 seats. rest two seats went to Kalyana Rajya Pragathi Paksha and Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha respectively.

Looking at the vote share, Congress received 42.88 percent votes, BJP got 36 percent, while JD(S) managed to get only 13.29 percent of votes.
