Karnataka Election Result 2023 Shikaripura election results: BJP leader BY Vijayendra, son of former chief minister BS Yediyurappa has from the Shikaripura assembly constituencyon Saturday. He defeated independent candidate S. P. Nagarajagowda and Goni Malatesh of the Congress.
The BJP leader won the election by securing 49.07 per cent of the total vote in Shikaripura constituency. The percentage is equal to 81,810 votes he got in the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023.

Independent candidate S. P. Nagarajagowda, a Congress rebel, was the runner up of the election with 42.47 per cent of votes, which was equivalent to 70802 votes. Congress candidate Goni Malatesh stood third in the position by securing 4.86 per cent of votes, equivalent to 8101 votes.
Yediyurappa held the seat since 1983. This is the first time in the last four decades that the constituency went to the polls without Yediyurappa. The Vice-President of the party's state unit B Y Vijayendra made his entry into electoral politics by filing nomination from this seat.
In 2018, Yediyurappa won this seat comfortably, beating Congress's Goni Malatesh by a huge margin of 35,397 votes. In 2013 too, Yediyurappa won this seat - beating Congress' HS Shanthaveerappagowda by nearly 25,000 votes.
Congress is all set to form the government in the state as it as has crossed the halfway mark.
But, now Congress will face another challenge of choosing the Chief Minister for the state with senior leaders DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah in the fray.
