Radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh is leading in Punjab's Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat over the Congress' Kulbir Singh Zira, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI), in initial trends on Tuesday.

Amritpal, the chief of the 'Waris Punjab De' outfit currently lodged in Assam's Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act, contested the election as an Independent.
Initial trends in Punjab show that the Congress is leading in six Lok Sabha seats, while the AAP is leading in four.
The trends show that the Congress is leading from Amritsar, Jalandhar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, and Patiala seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading from Hoshiarpur, Anandpur Sahib, Sangrur, and Bathinda seats.
Officials confirmed on Tuesday that vote counting for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and the solitary Chandigarh seat commenced at 8 am under tight security measures. A total of 328 candidates, including 26 women, contested in Punjab, while 19 candidates, including two women, are vying for the seat in Chandigarh.
Several prominent candidates contested in Punjab, including Preneet Kaur of the BJP, Sushil Rinku of the Shiromani Akali Dal, and Harsimrat Kaur Badal of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Former chief minister and Congress candidate Charanjit Singh Channi was also part of the electoral fray.
In Ludhiana, the Congress' Punjab unit chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring contested against the BJP's Ravneet Singh Bittu. Other key contenders included Congress candidate and former deputy chief minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, former diplomat and BJP nominee Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and the Congress' Gurjeet Singh Aujla.
In Chandigarh, the electoral battle features BJP candidate Sanjay Tandon against Congress nominee and former Union minister Manish Tewari.
Officials stated that 117 counting centres had been set up across the state, distributed among 48 buildings and 27 locations. They further emphasised implementing a comprehensive three-tier security system around these counting centres. Additionally, 64 observers have been appointed to oversee the counting process.
