New Delhi: Speaking for the first time after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) win in the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the win was for India and “together we will build a strong" country.
“सबका साथ + सबका विकास + सबका विश्वास = विजयी भारत Together we grow. Together we prosper. Together we will build a strong and inclusive India. India wins yet again! #VijayiBharat," PM Modi said in a tweet.
According to the Election Commission, the BJP is leading in 300 seats which is higher than what the party had won in the 2014 elections. In this election, the party has managed to expand their growth in states like West Bengal and Odisha and also saw record performances in states like Rajasthan and Karnataka.
BJP chief Amit Shah, who is contesting from the Gandhinagar constituency in Gujarat, is leading by over 5 lakh votes.
Commenting on the BJP’s performance, Shah said the result was against propaganda, lies, personal insinuations and baseless politics by the Opposition.
“Today's mandate also shows that the people of India have chosen evolution and nationalism by completely uprooting casteism, dynasty and appeasement from the country," Shah said.
