New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modis is likely to take oath of office for his second term on Thursday, television channel CNN NEWS 18 said on Friday quoting sources.
This follows the Bharatiya Janata Party winning 303 seats in the seven-phased national polls that ended on 19 May. News of the victory also led to world leaders congratulating the Prime Minister for his electoral win.
The new Cabinet is also likely to be sworn in on Thursday, according to the report.
The outgoing Cabinet and council of ministers were to meet on Friday evening to recommend the dissolution of Parliament, a government spokesman said.
Modi was expected to visit his constituency, Varanasi, on 28 May.
In 2014, Modi had invited heads of government from the South Asian countries for his swearing-in ceremony. It is unclear whether Modi was extending any invites to foreign leaders this time.
