This is for the third time that Fadnavis (54), an MLA from Nagpur, was sworn-in as the CM of Maharashtra. Whereas, Ajit Pawar took oath as Deputy CM for the sixth time.
The ceremony was attended by Union ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh, chief ministers of NDA-ruled states and prominent personalities from industry and Bollywood.
Addressing his first press conference after taking over as CM, Fadnavis said he will provide a stable government over the next five years and the state under his leadership will see politics of change and not revenge. The Chief Minister added that the mandate of people in the 2024 assembly elections reflected their expectations and love, and he is feeling the pressure of their hope.

The BJP achieved remarkable success in the November 20 Maharashtra elections, securing 132 out of 288 seats, marking its best performance in the state so far. Together with its allies -- the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar's NCP, the Mahayuti coalition has a commanding majority of 230 seats.

Shiv Sena Chief Eknath Shinde on Thursday sparked laughter while addressing mediapersons as he called himself a ‘dedicated common man’ while referring to his Deputy Chief Minister's (DCM) post.

"We have made it very clear to Shinde that he must become deputy chief minister in the new government," the Shiv Sena leader said.
Samant said he was confident that Shinde would agree to their demand.
