PremiumMaharashtra Election Results 2024 Live Updates: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suffered a setback in Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra, with its tally declining by almost half compared to 2019 elections, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) were leading with 29 out of 48 seats.
The BJP-led NDA in the state appeared falling significantly short of its target of bagging 45-plus seats in Maharashtra, going by the results and latest trends in counting of votes. Despite various exit polls for the Lok Sabha election indicating a clear victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti in Maharashtra, vote counts have shown the MVA taking a clear lead. The counting of votes is still underway.
Exit polls had predicted 22 to 35 seats to the Mahayuti in Maharashtra, and 15 to 26 seats to the MVA. The situation on June 4 however seems almost reversed. Overall, the INDI Alliance has gained lead in 29 seats — Congress in 13, Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena in nine, and Sharad Pawar's NCP in seven.
The NDA has a total of 18 seats leading — BJP with 10, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena with seven, and Ajit Pawar's NCP with one seat. In the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls, battleground Maharashtra witnessed intense contests between the split Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party factions — Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (SHS UBT) and Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde faction (SHS); NCP Sharad Pawar faction (NCP SP) and NCP Ajit Pawar group.
The BJP contested in 28 constituencies, with its allies Shiv Sena (Shinde) in 14 and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP in five. On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi members saw Shiv Sena (UBT) competing in 21 constituencies, Congress in 17, and NCP (Sharad Pawar) in 10. The Lok Sabha election in Maharashtra was held in five phases.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has won from the Mumbai North constituency securing 6,80,146 votes. Goyal defeated Congress' Bhushan Patil by a margin of 3,57,608 votes, according to ECI data.
Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena faction largely emerged victorious in Munbai, winning three out of six seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackrey or UBT) faction won Mumbai South, South Central and North East. On the other hand, union minister Piyush Goyal of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won Mumbai North defeating Congress' Bhushan Patil.
Union Minister Nitin Jairam Gadkari of BJP has won from the Nagpur constituency securing 6,55,027 votes. Gadkari defeated Comgress' Vikas Thakre by a margin of 1.3 lakh votes, according to ECI data
Dhairyasheel Sambhajirao Mane of Shiv Sena Shinde's faction has won from the Hatkanangale constituency securing 5,20,190 votes. Mane defeated Satyajeet Babasaheb Patil (Aaba) Sarudkar of Shiv Sena UBT by a margin of 13,426 votes.
Dr Shrikant Eknath Shinde of Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction has won from the Kalyan constituency securing 5,89,636 votes. Shinde defeated Vaishali Darekar - Rane of Shiv Sena UBT faction by a margin of 2,09,144 votes.
Congress' Balwant Baswant Wankhede has won from the Amravati constituency securing 52,6271 votes. Wankhede defeated BJP's Navneet Rana by a margin of 19,731 votes, according to ECI data.
Sanjay Deshmukh of Shiv Sena UBT faction has won from the Yavatmal-Washim constituency securing 5,94,807 votes. Deshmukh defeated Rajshritai Hemant Patil (Mahalle) of Eknath Shinde's Sena by a margin of 94,473 votes
Congress' Gaikwad Varsha Eknath has won from the Mumbai North Central constituency securing 4,45,545 votes. Eknath defeated BJP's Adv Ujwal Nikam by a margin of 16,514 votes, according to ECI data
BJP's Anup Sanjay Dhotre has won from the Akola constituency securing a total of 4,57,030 votes. Dhotre defeated Congress' Abhay Patil by a margin of 40,626 votes, according to ECI data.
Sanjay Dina Patil of Shiv Sena UBT faction has won from the Mumbai North East constituency securing a total of 4,50,937 votes. Patil defeated BJP's Mihir Chandrakant Kotecha by a margin of 29,861 votes, according to ECI data.
Bhausaheb Rajaram Wakchaure of Shiv Sena UBT faction has won from the Shirdi constituency securing 4,76,900 votes. Wakchaure defeated Lokhande Sadashiv Kisan of Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction by a margin of 50,529 votes.
NCP's Bhaskar Murlidhar Bhagare of Sharad Pawar's faction has won from the Dindoro constituency securing a total of 5,77,339 votes. Bhagare defeated BJP's Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar by a margin of 1,13,199 votes.
BJP's Shrimant CHH Udayanraje Pratapsinhamaharaj Bhonsle has won from the Satara constituency securing a total of 5,71,134 votes. Bhonsle defeated Shashikant Jayvantrao Shinde of NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) by a margin of 32,771 votes.
Jadhav Prataprao Ganpatrao of Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction has won from the Buldhana constituency securing a total of 3,49,867 votes. Ganpatrao defeated Narendra Dagdu Khedekar of Shiv Sena UBT faction by a margin of 29,479 votes.
BJP's Dr. Hemant Vishnu Savara has won from the Palghar constituency securing a total of 6,01,244 votes. Savara defeated Bharti Bharat Kamdi of Shiv Sena UBT faction by a margin of 1,83,306 votes, according to ECI data
BJP's Narayan Tatu Rane has won from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg seat securing a total of 4,48,514 votes. Rane defeated Vinayak Bhaurao Raut of Shiv Sena UBT by a margin of 47,585 votes.
NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday said the Lok Sabha election results showed the situation was favourable in the country for political change, and added that the INDIA bloc leaders are likely to meet in Delhi on Wednesday to decide the future course of action. He, however, also said that the opposition bloc was not likely to form a government at the Centre.
Addressing a press conference, Pawar said, "I spoke to Mallikarjun Kharge and Sitaram Yechury. The INDIA alliance meeting is likely to be held in Delhi tomorrow. Final decision is expected to be taken by this evening. Accordingly, I will be in Delhi." To a question who would be the next prime minister, he said, "We have not given it a thought." "I am not sure if the INDIA alliance can form government. We will meet tomorrow and take a decision unanimously on the future course of action," he said.
Pawar said the strike rate of his party and that of Shiv Sena (UBT) in the Lok Sabha elections was very good. As the trends indicated that the BJP might not achieve majority on its own in the Lok Sabha polls, Pawar said he had not spoken to JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar or TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, contrary to media reports. He also expressed satisfaction with his own party's performance, and said his party contested only 10 seats in Maharashtra, of which it was leading in seven. The strike rate of his party and that of the Shiv Sena (UBT) was very good, he said. "This is success of my party workers, Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT)," Pawar said.
Shrirang Appa Chandu Barne of Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde's faction) has won from Maval, securing a total of 6,92,832 votes by a margin of 96,615 votes. Barne defeated Sanjog Bhiku Waghere Patil of Shiv Sena UBT faction, according to ECI data.
ADV Gowaal Kagada Padavi of Congress has won from the Nandurbar seat securing a total of 7,45,998 votes by a margin of 1,59,120 votes. Padavi defeated BJP's Dr Heena Vijaykumar Gavit from the constituency

MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should concede defeat as people have rejected his government. Talking to reporters here, Raut claimed that the BJP will get less than 240 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. "We have stopped Narendra Modi in Maharashtra. Narendra Modi should concede defeat as people have rejected his government," the Sena (UBT) leader said.
NCP-SCP leader Rohit Pawar says, " Maharashtra's outcomes are what people gave through the side of democracy. In Maharashtra, money, position, power and goons were used but people still stood with Maha Vikas Aghadi...the result people have given is very good...we believe that Maha Vikas Aghadi govt will come to power in the state...Supriya Sule is winning because of the work done by her and (Sharad) Pawar"
NCP's Tatkare Sunil Dattatrey from the Ajit Pawar faction has won from the Raigad seat securing a total of 5,08,352 votes by a margin of 82,784 votes. Dattatrey defeated Sena UBT's Anant Geete from the constituency.
Anil Yeshwant Desai has won from the Mumbai South Central seat securing a total of 3,95,138 seats by a margin of 53,384 votes. Desai defeated Rahul Ramesh Shewale of the Eknath Shinde's Shiv Dena faction, according to ECI data

All India Majlis E Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP from Maharashtra's Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat, Imtiaz Jaleel, was trailing behind his Shiv Sena rival Sandipan Bhumre by more than 36,000 votes, as per the latest EC data.
Bhumre has so far got 2,62,664 votes, while Jaleel got 2,25,735 votes. Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Chandrakant Khaire was at the third place with 1,65,273 votes, the official said. A total of 38 candidates contested the election from the Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra.
Counting of votes was underway for 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut says, "There is going to be a change in the country. We look at this positively...BJP will lose more seats by the evening and they will fall below 240...Maharashtra, UP and West Bengal have done the biggest 'khela'. "

The election tally was markedly different from the numbers prophesied by the exit pollsters and well below our expectations. The BJP number was disappointing.
There is, however, no doubt that BJP with its allies will form the government as they are still well over the magic number of 272, i.e., the majority mark.
In the wake of a BJP-led coalition government now, the market fell steeply today. But once this knee-jerk reaction is over, we expect the market to regain a strong footing and macro policies to gain traction with an accent on policy continuity and execution. There could, however, be some unease and uncertainty in the interregnum.
Even as the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has established a clear lead over the ruling Mahayuti in most of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra as per the trends available so far, six constituencies are seeing a close contest.
The MVA comprises the Congress, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction led by Sharad Pawar, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Shiv Sena and the NCP led by Ajit Pawar are part of the ruling alliance.
Close contests are being witnessed in Amravati, Beed, Bhandara-Gondia, Hatkanangale, Mumbai North-West and Satara, where fortunes of the main candidates could be seen fluctuating as counting of votes is in progress

NCP (SP) workers began early celebrations in Maharashtra's Baramati Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday as the party's sitting MP, Supriya Sule, was leading over her sister-in-law Sunetra Pawar of the NCP by more than 14,000 votes.
Workers of the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) danced on roads, sprinkled 'gulal' on each other and raised slogans in support of their party and Sule.
As per the latest data on the Election Commission's website, Sule so far received 1,43,686 votes, while Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, got 1,29,190 votes.
As of 2 pm on June 4, the INDIA alliance has gained leads in 28 seats, while Mahayuti has lead in 19 seats from Maharashtra's 48 Lok Sabha constituency seats.

As of 11.30 am on June 4, vote count estimates have put the BJP and Congress on equal footing in Maharashtra, with both parties leading in 11 seats.
Overall, the INDI Alliance has gained lead in 29 seats — Congress in 11, Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena in 10, and Sharad Pawar's NCP in 8.

Initial vote count trends for the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra on Tuesday indicated that Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal, along with Supriya Sule, daughter of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, were in the lead in their respective constituencies.
Furthermore, Shrikant Shinde, son of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, representing Shiv Sena, was also ahead in the Kalyan Lok Sabha seat.
Counting commenced at 8 am for all 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state, beginning with the tallying of postal ballots, as confirmed by an official. Gadkari, contesting his third Lok Sabha election from Nagpur, emerged with a lead over Congress candidate Vikas Thakre, as reported by an election official.
