Mumbai Lok Sabha Election 2024 Voting Highlights: Maharashtra records 54% voter turnout, Mumbai South tally lowest

Mumbai Lok Sabha Election 2024 Voting Highlights: Maharashtra recorded 54% percent voter turnout, as per Election Commission's data around 10 pm on Monday. Mumbai South recorded the lowest turnout among six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai.

Mumbai Lok Sabha Election 2024 Voting Highlights: Maharashtra has so far recorded the lowest voter turnout at 53 percent as of 10 pm on Monday. Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency was among the seats which recorded the lowest turnout, with many “slow pace" of voting process in Mumbai.

Six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai went to polls in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on Monday. These six seats were Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South and Mumbai South Central. The region witnessed a high-profile contest, mainly between candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INDIA bloc. 

Union Minister Piyush Goyal was in fray from the Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency, where he is pitted against Bhushan Patil of Congress. In the Mumbai North Central constituency, the contest is between Advocate Ujwal Nikam from the BJP and Varsha Eknath Gaikwad of the Congress. 

Mumbai North West Lok Sabha Constituency witnessed the battle between two Shiv Sena factions. Ravindra Wairkar represents the CM Eknath Shinde faction, while Amol Gajanan Kirtikar is from the Uddhav Thackeray faction. BJP's Mihir Kotecha is against Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Sanjaydina Patil in the Mumbai North East Lok Sabha constituency. 

The South Central Lok Sabha constituency of Mumbai witnessed a fight between Ramesh Shewele from the Shiv Sena and Anil Desai from the Shiv Sena (UBT). Arvind Sawant from the Shiv Sena (UBT) is hoping to secure a third term from the Mumbai South Lok Sabha seat, while the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena has fielded Yamini Jadhav to ruin his plans.
