Ranveer Singh’s box office hit Dhurandhar 2 appears to be edging closer to its much-awaited OTT release, with fresh details surfacing through court proceedings linked to an ongoing copyright dispute involving one of the film’s songs.

Even as the Aditya Dhar-directed action thriller continues its theatrical run, recent developments in the Delhi High Court have offered the clearest indication yet of when audiences may be able to watch the film at home. Reports suggest the film is expected to stream on JioHotstar, although the makers are yet to announce an official release date.
The legal matter centres around the use of ‘Rang De Lal’, a track in Dhurandhar 2 that has sparked objections from Trimurti Films. The company has alleged that the song bears similarities to the classic ‘Oye Oye’ track from the 1989 film Tridev and claims it was used without proper authorisation.
The dispute was referred for mediation, but attempts to resolve the matter reportedly failed, sending the case back to the Delhi High Court for further hearing.
It was during these proceedings that lawyers representing the makers reportedly informed the court that there were no plans to release the film on any streaming platform before mid-May 2026. While this statement was made in response to legal concerns surrounding the digital launch, it has effectively narrowed down the likely window for the OTT premiere. Industry reports now suggest a release in late May or early June remains the most probable timeline.
The digital rights for the film are understood to have been acquired by JioHotstar as part of a major deal, making it the likely home for the spy thriller once its theatrical run concludes. This marks a platform shift for the franchise, with the first Dhurandhar having streamed on Netflix earlier this year after a successful box office run.
Released in cinemas on 19 March, Dhurandhar 2 has emerged as one of 2026’s biggest Hindi film successes. Directed by Aditya Dhar and fronted by Ranveer Singh, the sequel built heavily on the momentum created by the first film and has reportedly posted huge box office numbers both in India and overseas.

The film features Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, Danish Pandor and Manav Gohil in key roles, with several cast members returning from the first instalment. The story centres on an undercover Indian intelligence officer who pushes deeper into Karachi’s criminal networks and political circles while seeking revenge for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and taking on fresh national security threats.
The plot draws inspiration from several major real-world developments in South Asia, including Operation Lyari, the 2014 Indian general election and India’s 2016 Indian banknote demonetisation. Filmed alongside the first part, production began in July 2024 in Bangkok and wrapped in October 2025.
Shooting was carried out across Punjab, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Thailand, with several locations standing in for Pakistan-based scenes. The film’s music has been composed by Shashwat Sachdev. Running for 229 minutes, it ranks among the longest Indian films made to date.
