Two full weeks have now passed since Dhurandhar: The Revenge arrived in cinemas. Aditya Dhar’s film is still pulling crowds in a manner that very few Bollywood releases have managed in recent memory.
The film's journey started on Day 0 with ₹43 crore net from 11,294 preview shows at 54.8% occupancy, an extraordinary start before the film had even officially released. The opening day, Day 1, delivered ₹102.55 crore net from 21,633 shows at 56.6% occupancy.
The first weekend pushed the numbers even higher for Ranveer Singh’s movie. Saturday brought ₹113 crore at 73.5%, and Sunday peaked at ₹114.85 crore at 76.1%. Those were the two biggest days of the first week.
The weekdays held remarkably well. Monday brought ₹65 crore, Tuesday ₹56.60 crore and Wednesday ₹48.75 crore. Day 8, the second Thursday, earned ₹49.70 crore from 19,493 shows at 35.1%. It was an unusually-strong number for a film already a week old. The Week 1 total was ₹674.17 crore net.
Most films drop sharply in their second week. Dhurandhar 2 had other ideas.
Day 9, the second Friday, brought ₹41.75 crore from 18,456 shows at 31.5%. Then came the second weekend. And, the film showed exactly why it had become a talking point across the industry.
Day 10, the second Saturday, earned ₹62.85 crore at 44.8% occupancy. Day 11, the second Sunday, went even further, ₹68.10 crore from 19,270 shows at 48.5%. A second-week Sunday figure of this size is a rare sight in Bollywood.
The second weekdays followed a natural but solid pattern. Day 12 brought ₹25.30 crore from 17,614 shows at 23.5%. Day 13 added ₹27.75 crore from 17,883 shows at 26.1%. On Day 14, the second Wednesday, the show collected ₹20.10 crore from 17,906 shows, at 19.8%. The Week 2 total was ₹245.85 crore net.
Hindi led with ₹18.75 crore from 15,613 shows at 20%. Telugu followed with ₹0.85 crore from 1,288 shows at 19%. Tamil collected ₹30 lakh from 686 shows at 17%.
Kannada earned ₹15 lakh from 148 shows at 21%, the highest occupancy of any language on the day. Malayalam brought in ₹5 lakh from 171 shows at 16%.
After 14 days, Dhurandhar 2’s India net collection stands at ₹920.02 crore, with the India gross crossing ₹1,101.47 crore. Overseas, the film has collected a total of ₹365 crore gross. That puts the worldwide gross at ₹1,466.47 crore, and the film is still running.
In terms of worldwide box office collection, Dhurandhar 2 is now approaching the top 3 biggest grossers in Indian film history.
Pushpa: The Rule - Part 2 is just above Dhurandhar 2, with a gross worldwide total of ₹1,742.10 crore. Allu Arjun’s movie ran in theatres for 64 days.
On Day 14, Pushpa 2 earned ₹20.55 crore net across 22,287 shows in India. With a total India gross collection of ₹1,159.37 crore, the worldwide gross collection was ₹1,391.37 crore. So, Dhurandhar 2 is ahead of Pushpa 2 in worldwide two-week numbers.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion stands higher with a gross worldwide total of ₹1,788.06 crore. The Hindi version ran for 98 days, and the Telugu version ran for 112 days.
After 14 days, Baahubali 2 grossed over ₹1,687 crore worldwide.
Above all, Aamir Khan’s Dangal stands on top with ₹2,070.30 crore. It is an unusual entry because the film grossed just ₹535 crore and netted ₹387.38 crore in India.
The sports movie earned around ₹1,300 crore in China. After two weeks, the film earned around ₹600 crore worldwide.
