Dhurandhar fans are in for a delightful surprise as Netflix on Thursday announced the OTT release of Ranveer Singh's blockbuster movie, promising an unseen version.
In the official announcement for the raw and unseen footage of the first instalment of the blockbuster Dhurandhar franchise, Netflix India said, “Aandhi aa rahi hai. Aur iss baar, extra ghatak 🔥”
“Watch Dhurandhar Raw & Undekha, out 22 May on Netflix,” the streaming platform wrote, promising an extended version of the blockbuster movie, releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on Friday.
The very successful second instalment of the movie — Dhurandhar The Revenge — was released overseas on Netflix on May 15. The OTT release of Dhurandhar 2 has stirred quite a buzz internationally, with the movie claiming the #1 spot on the streaming giant in Pakistan. However, for the Indian viewers, the sequel to Ranveer Singh's movie is yet to be released on OTT.
The announcement sent Indian fans into a frenzy, who are patiently awaiting the OTT release of Dhurandhar 2, while international fans enjoy it. Netflix's post also sparked a lot of confusion among netizens, who confused the announcement with Dhurandhar The Revenge's OTT release.
“Then what about JioStar coming on 4th June? I’m really confused. Is anyone else confused about this too?” a social media user asked.
“I am confused! Dhurandhar part 1 is already there on Netflix, what is this Raw and Undekha? Can anyone please explain!?” added another.
After the netizens finally realised that the Netflix release is that of an extended version of Dhurandhar Part 1, the disappointed lot said, “Dhurandhar revenge chahiye brooo. (We want Dhurandhar The Revenge, bro.)”
“Too late for the party,” a user said. “But we wanted Part 2 on Netflix.”
Several social media users, however, rejoiced at the announcement and thought that this version would be a great way to pass the time until the release of Dhurandhar 2.
“Ab maza aayega na bhidu,” said a user. “Thanks.. it was much needed to see the first part as an uncut version,” said another user.
Dhurandhar 2 OTT release in India
Dhurandhar The Revenge will start streaming online in India on JioHotstar on June 5 at 7 PM IST, according to the official announcement.
“Iss aandhi ko ab koi nahi rok sakta 🔥” JioHotstar said in a social media post, announcing the release of Dhurandhar 2. “Watch Dhurandhar The Revenge, Raw & Undekha. Grand Digital Premiere on June 4th at 7 PM, starts streaming from June 5th only on JioHotstar.”
Dhurandhar collected ₹1307 crore worldwide, while its sequel, Dhurandhar 2, has grossed over ₹1790 crore.
