Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan recently met actor Rajpal Yadav following his release on bail, expressing her happiness at seeing him back in public life after his legal troubles.

Farah Khan expresses happiness seeing Rajpal Yadav out of jail

Farah visited Rajpal’s manager and friend, Saket Swahney’s house as part of her cooking vlog. The meeting appeared warm and informal, with Rajpal welcoming her at the door. As they greeted each other, Farah hugged him and said, “I am meeting you after so many years.”

She added that she had brought homemade food for him, including kadhi chawal and a potato dish. Rajpal responded by saying that he had also prepared something for her and hoped she would enjoy it. The exchange reflected a long-standing personal bond between the two.

During the interaction, Farah made a remark that drew attention to Rajpal’s recent legal situation. She said, “Mereko achha lagg raha hai ki tu bahar ghoom raha hai, sabse zayada vohi acha lag raha hai (I’m happy to see you out and about, that’s what I am most happy about),” clearly expressing her relief at seeing him out on bail in his 9 crore debt case.

In the video, Farah also spoke about her close, almost sibling-like relationship with the actor. She revealed that she had choreographed his first-ever song in the film Mast, marking an early professional connection between them. She also shared that she used to scold Rajpal frequently during those days. The actor responded by saying he was always scared of her, though he described her scolding as a blessing.

What happened to Rajpal Yadav?

Rajpal Yadav’s recent appearance comes after a prolonged legal dispute linked to a financial matter. In 2010, the actor borrowed 5 crore from Delhi-based Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata (2012). However, the film did not perform well at the box office, leading to financial losses. Rajpal was unable to repay the loan, which resulted in legal proceedings.

In 2018, a magistrate’s court convicted him in a cheque bounce case under the Negotiable Instruments Act and sentenced him to six months in prison. The ruling was upheld by a sessions court in 2019. Over time, the total amount due reportedly increased to nearly 9 crore.

Earlier this year, in February, Rajpal surrendered after failing to clear the dues and was sent to Tihar Jail. Reports indicated that several members of the film industry extended support to him during this period. He was later granted interim bail on February 16, valid until March 18, after depositing 1.5 crore as directed by the court.

Following this, the Delhi High Court clarified that Rajpal would not be taken back into custody even after the earlier interim order was vacated, offering him continued relief.

Rajpal Yadav will next be seen in Priyadarshan's Bhooth Bangla. Led by Akshay Kumar, the film features a massive ensemble, including the late Asrani.

The film arrives in theatres on 17 April, 2026.
