Security beefed up

Heavy security has been deployed outside the spot. Visuals showed increased police presence outside Shetty's house. Additionally, police vehicles, barricades and officers were spotted stationed outside the building, following the incident.

Reportedly, the firing took place at around 12.43 am on Sunday by unidentified attackers.

Meanwhile, Shetty is yet to issue a statement after the firing.

On the work front, Rohit Shetty's upcoming film will be Golmaal 5, starring Ajay Devgn. The latest installment of the comedy franchise is expected to arrive in theatres in 2027.

Shetty also has an action film with John Abraham in the pipeline. The film is based on former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Mari. The director previously confirmed that the project has already hit the shooting floors.

A source from Shetty's team told Mid Day, "The South Mumbai portions gave the real-world texture to the story. Now, we’ve shifted to a more controlled setup. Unlike Rohit’s past cop action movies, this one is being mounted as a gritty procedural drama. We are filming the interrogation scenes of the many high-profile investigations that Maria headed. Every day, we shoot with a crowd of 50 to 100 people."

“The post-production will begin soon. Rohit is approaching this one differently. It’s not just an action spectacle; it will be a deep dive into the mind of a man who faced some of Mumbai’s darkest chapters,” the source added.
