‘I'm Shah Rukh’: ‘Nervous’ King Khan introduces himself at Met Gala; netizens say 'History meets humility' | Watch

The very-dandy Shah Rukh Khan made his Met Gala 2025 debut dressed in a Sabyasachi suit, a tiger sceptre and the iconic 'K' necklace to publicly acknowledge his moniker “King Khan”.

Shah Rukh Khan made history as the first Indian male actor to walk the Met Gala carpet.

However, the Bollywood King too had to stop to introduce himself to the foreign media, moments after he was greeted by a sea of fans outside the New York City hotel. 

“I am Shah Rukh,” King Khan told the journalists at the gala. He also shared that he was wearing an ensemble by India's ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

An “extremely nervous” Shah Rukh Khan told Vogue India that he is too shy to walk the Met Gala carpet, and it actually was Sabyasachi who convinced him to attend the extravagant Manhattan charity ball.

When a journalist asked him about the “history” he was creating at the Met Gala carpet, the Bollywood superstar said, “I don't know about history, but I am extremely nervous and excited.”

“I've not done many red carpets, I'm very shy,” he added.

Shah Rukh also shared a fun banter with the Met Gala journalists who pointed out that the carpet tonight is actually blue, and asked if that makes him any less nervous.

“Yes, now I'm absolutely all right. It's okay now, I'm all day now,” King Khan said sarcastically. 

In a separate interview with Vogue, Sabyasachi told the hosts that Shah Rukh is among the biggest stars in the world and had almost caused a stampede outside their hotel when he stepped out to leave for the gala.

SRK fans were delighted to see the superstar at the Met Gala carpet, and boy, were they impressed by the Sabyasachi ensemble! However, Shah Rukh Khan fans were taken aback a little when the foreign media didn't attend to the star as they would've.

“History met humility. SRK’s charm, wit, and grace lit up the blue carpet — all thanks to Sabyasachi and a whole lot of magic!” a social media user said.

A fan said, “SRK doing his signature pose at the Met Gala. What a time to be alive, fr.”

“King of all! Period. No one could have pulled of his look, it doesn’t matter what he wears, his aura will always outshine every piece of clothes!” added another fan.

“Imagine he wore a ‘cool’ necklace,” a fan quipped, referring to his Kuch Kuch Hota Hai character Rahul.

Talking for the nervous star, his fans said, “This is the first time I've seen him be so uncomfortable.”

“Omg bhai! There is cuteness even in his nervousness!” an undeterred fan added,

But an offended fan said, “The hosts are truly embarrassing for not knowing who they’re talking to. Imagine asking SRK if he’s uncomfortable when he lives with this attention 24/7 at mannat.”
