
Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 7: Actor-director Rishab Shetty is back with the much-anticipated Kantara Chapter 1, a prequel to his hit 2022 film Kantara. The film completed its first week at the box office and crossed the ₹300 crore mark in India.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 minted ₹25 crore net [Ka: ₹9 crore; Te: ₹3.5 crore; Hi: ₹8.5 crore; Ta: ₹2.15 crore; Mal: ₹1.85 crore] in India on day 7. The film saw a dip of about 27.1% in its earnings from the previous day, day 6, when it raked in ₹34.25 crore.
However, despite the dip in revenue, the total business made by the film in India now stands at ₹316 crore net.
Kantara Chapter 1 was released on 2 October on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Vijayadashami. The film opened to massive numbers, earning ₹61.85 crore on Day 1, driven by strong revenues in Kannada and Hindi markets. While the collections dipped slightly over the next two days, momentum picked up over the weekend, with Sunday bringing in ₹63 crore, the highest single-day earning by the film so far.
Despite a predictable 50% drop on Monday, Shetty's film maintained solid weekday business, with Tuesday seeing an 8.7% rise in earnings via word-of-mouth. By the end of its first week, Kantara amassed ₹98.85 crore from Kannada, ₹102 crore from Hindi, ₹60.9 crore from Telugu, ₹29.4 crore from Tamil, and ₹24.85 crore from Malayalam.
On day 7, Kantara Chapter 1 witnessed about 55.73% occupancy among the Kannada audience. While morning shows saw about 26.01% occupancy, the afternoon and evening had an increase in footfall in theatres. The night saw the highest occupancy at 77.08%.
Bengaluru held the highest number of screenings (934 shows) for the Kannada version of the film.
Kantara Chapter 1 also maintained a steady hold in the Hindi belt with an overall 16.41% occupancy on Wednesday. The film saw gradual growth through the day, starting with 8.69% in morning shows, improving to 12.69% in the afternoon, 16.71% in the evening, and peaking at 27.55% during night shows.
Among key regions for Kantara Chapter 1 (Hindi), Mumbai led the pack with a healthy 23.25% overall occupancy across 837 shows, followed by Pune (27%) and Bengaluru (27.75%), which witnessed strong footfalls during evening and night shows. Other cities like Chennai (45.33%), though with limited screenings, reported impressive turnout, especially in late shows. The Delhi NCR hosted the highest number of screenings (977 shows) for Kantara Chapter 1.
