Kanye West has sparked fresh controversy after defying Kim Kardashian’s objections over release of a song featuring their daughter, North West, alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs. The rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, March 17, to assert his stance, posting: "THE MAN MAKES THE FINAL DECISION."

This statement appeared to be in response to Kim Kardashian’s efforts to prevent the release of Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine by sending a cease-and-desist letter.

Kim Kardashian’s attempt to block the song

Kim Kardashian, 44, reportedly objected to North’s involvement in the track, citing her legal rights over their daughter’s name. According to TMZ, she sent cease-and-desist letters to West, arguing that North’s name is trademarked.

In a private text exchange later leaked by Kanye, Kardashian wrote:

"I asked you at the time if I can trademark her name. You said yes. When she’s 18, it goes to her. So stop."

"I sent paperwork over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her. One person has to trademark!"

The Skims founder insisted that both parents had agreed to trademark all their children’s names at birth to prevent unauthorized use.

Kanye’s defiant response

Despite Kardashian’s objections, Kanye doubled down, earlier sharing in a post on X: "ALL KINGS LOVE WAR."

In the leaked text exchange, he issued a dramatic ultimatum: "Amend it or I’m going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout."

"You’re going to have to kill me."

Cease-and-desist and legal fallout

TMZ later reported that Kardashian had sent legal warnings after discovering Kanye intended to perform the song. While an emergency hearing with a mediator and judge was scheduled, Kanye allegedly skipped it but assured he would not release the song.

Concerns over North West’s involvement

A source close to Kardashian told Page Six that she is particularly concerned about North being associated with Kanye’s "controversial decisions," especially since Diddy is currently in jail facing charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
