Hrithik Roshan’s much-anticipated Krrish 4 has once again been delayed, this time due to budget issues. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film’s estimated budget is around ₹700 crore.
The sky-high budget has made Bollywood studios hesitant to invest, especially in the current post-DC-Marvel era, when superhero films face higher expectations, the publication added. It’s also been over a decade since the last Krrish movie was released, adding to the risk factor.
This year, the superhero movie was supposed to go on floors. However, the shoot seems unlikely to start before 2026.
Hrithik Roshan earlier entrusted Pathaan director Siddharth Anand with finding a studio to back the film, but with no success, Anand and his production house Marflix, which earlier produced Hrithi’s Fighter, have now exited the project, Bollywood Hungama added.
Instead, Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan have decided to approach studios across India to secure a deal. The film will now be produced under FilmKraft, Rakesh Roshan’s home banner, in partnership with a new studio.
Karan Malhotra, who was set to direct the film under Siddharth Anand’s leadership, has also exited the project, per the publication. With both Anand and Malhotra stepping away, a new team will now be brought in to rework the budget and strategy for Krrish 4.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rakesh Roshan earlier shared his thoughts on handing over the Krrish film franchise to a new director. He acknowledged that the time had come to pass on the baton.
So far, Rakesh Roshan directed Krrish franchise movies: Koi... Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013). In 2018, the actor-filmmaker was diagnosed with throat cancer.
“It’s better I do it when I am in my senses so that I can overlook the process as well and ascertain whether he’s doing it correctly or not. Tomorrow, if I am not in my senses and I’ll have to pass it on, I will not know what they are making,” the senior Rohan said in the interview.
