London-based Bush Theatre has unveiled its much anticipated 2025/26 season, with a number of plays and dramas in the list. A major highlight of the season this year will be Superwoman Schema, starring none other than Black Panther fame Letitia Wright along with Golda Rosheuvel.
Superwoman Schema, a gripping new drama by the incredible Emma Dennis-Edwards, will be played from September 6 to October 25 at the theatres.
Directed by Lynette Linton, Superwoman Schema is a tale of a mother and daughter, exploring topics like intergenerational strength, struggle, and survival after the loss of a family matriarch.
The 2025/26 season will be Lynette Linton's last at the Bush Theatre. The trailblazing playwright and director has under her leadership as the artistic director made Bush a torchbearer of diverse and urgent storytelling.
Her last season is no less, empowering actors of colour on and off the stage. In 2019 she was named as one of Marie Claire's “Future Shapers”.
Linton is set to pass the baton to incoming artistic director Taio Lawson.
“Running the Bush Theatre for the last six years has been one of the biggest honours of my life. I am so proud of all the incredible artists who have passed through this building. Dan and I wanted to disrupt the canon, and we have done just that with over 50 groundbreaking productions! I can’t wait to witness the Bush’s next chapter under Taio Lawson’s visionary leadership,” Linton was quoted as saying by The British Blacklist.
The main season of Bush Theatre this year will kick off with Miss Myrtle’s Garden. The play will be enacted from May 31 to July 12.
Written by Danny James King and directed by Lawson, the play navigates the life of an elderly black woman who has been struggling with a shifting neighborhood and the ghosts of her past.
Other plays like Make Me Feel, After Sunday, Sweetmeats and nsane Asylum Seekers will also feature in the season.
