Pakistani superstar Mahira Khan has always been admired across borders, and a recent heartwarming Instagram interaction proved that love and admiration know no boundaries. A fan from India penned an emotional tribute to the actress, recounting her decade-long journey of admiration that began with spotting her on a Humsafar poster in the streets of Kolkata.
In her touching message, Taniya Pal recalled how he first noticed Mahira in a black dress on the Humsafar poster, a moment that made her appreciate the beauty of Pakistani artists.
Over the years, his admiration only grew, especially after watching Mahira’s performance in the song Zaalima (With Shah Rukh Khan in Raees). Later, her iconic confrontation scene in Humsafar where Khirad confronts Ashar.
Hooked by her performance, she binge-watched the entire show and proudly declared herself a fan of both Mahira Khan and the Mahira-Fawad Khan pairing.
He also shared his love for her other hit serial Bin Roye, calling her on-screen chemistry with Humayun Saeed equally captivating.
Then, the fan goes on to say: “I thought I should compare you with Madhubala, then I thought it’s not fair… You are you. You’re the Mahira Khan.”
To this emotional message, Mahira Khan responded with genuine warmth:
“Oh wow.. thank you thank you for the love! Sending you the tightest hug. Lotsss of love my love.”
Mahira Khan’s post sent social media into a frenzy for a different reason. The Instagram post showed her wearing an SRK t-shirt.
Dressed casually in a blue T-shirt and matching denim jeans, Mahira posed outside her vanity van. An image of Shah Rukh Khan smoking a cigarette was printed on her T-shirt. The quote on the t-shirt said, “Smoking causes cancer.”
“Working on a Sunday… brought him along to make it a fun day,” Mahira captioned the post, with “him” apparently referring to King Khan.
Many fans adored the subtle throwback and her admiration for SRK. Comments like “That tee and song… always an SRK fangirl!” and “Manifesting Raees 2” poured in. Another fan commented, “Us, Mahira, us! SRK forever.”
One of them assumed, “Something's cooking.”
However, the post also attracted criticism. Some users questioned the appropriateness of a major Pakistani celebrity publicly fangirling over a Bollywood star.
“Move over, Shah Rukh Khan—Mahira, please,” read one comment.
Another remarked, “You are already one of Pakistan’s biggest stars. Such fangirling over a Bollywood actor doesn’t suit you.”
Mahira has frequently expressed her admiration for Shah Rukh Khan in interviews. The two co-starred in Raees (2017), directed by Rahul Dholakia. The film, also featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, was a commercial success, earning ₹281.45 crore worldwide.
