Snow White Box Office Collection Day 6: Walt Disney Co.’s modern-day remake of the 1937 animated classic seems to struggle to make a mark at India box office amid dwindling numbers. Registering a drop in earnings for the third day in a row, the Hollywood movie hampered by a number of controversies is finding it difficult to secure decent numbers.
It witnessed 13.64 percent dip in collection in India on Wednesday, March 26, a day after registering 20 percent drop, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The live-action musical ‘Snow White’ collected ₹38 lakh net in India on its sixth day in theatres. This brings India box collection total to ₹4.54 crore net. An overall English occupancy of 6.50 percent was recorded on Day 6.
On it opening day in India, the movie collected ₹65 lakh net, Sacnilk reported. A boost in earnings was registered over the following weekend, when it raked in ₹2.52 crore net within a span of two days. Starring Rachel Zegler in the title role, the movie was reportedly made on a budget of nearly $250 million ( ₹2,149 crore). Considering the numbers, it is evident that the modern-day take on Walt Disney Co.’s 1937 classic did not sit very well with the audience.
Film Trade analyst Luiz Fernando said that Snow White witnessed a sharp surge in earnings of 55.4 percent on Tuesday after significant drop on Monday. It collected $3.9 million gross on its 1st Tuesday.
Luiz Fernando in a post on X stated, “Snow White might have joined that group of films which many moviegoers will give a chance for the right price at US #BoxOffice, with #RachelZegler & #GalGadot EXPLODING grossing 3.9M on TUE Discount Day, up strong +55.4% drop from MON.”
He added, “The PG live-action remake hits a 48.8M cume in the U.S.”
Bollywood movies continue to dominate the box office earnings as Snow White faces stiff competition with cult favourite Chhaava and The Diplomat. The performance challenge at India box office seems to be further compounded by the release of Mollywood movie L2: Empuraan today. The political action thriller stars Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. Its release will be followed by release of Salman Khan's Sikandar on March 30.
