Snow White producer’s son Jonah Platt blames Rachel Zegler for film’s failure: ‘Free speech does not mean…’

Disney's latest Snow White landed in controversies followed by its poor reviews and box office performance. Now the film producer Marc Platt's son Jonah Platt slammed lead actor Rachel Zegler for hurting the film.

Snow White premiered on March 21. It also stars Gal Gadot.

Jonah Platt, in a now deleted comment, criticised Rachel for her political remark which created a stir.

It happened so when Rachel Zegler posted a “free Palestine” comment on X, formerly Twitter, last year, as per Variety. Her comment arrived while she thanked her fans for watching the Snow White trailer.

However, things took a turn and the episode became a political affair. Reportedly, Disney sent producer Marc Platt to fly to New York City as they wanted Rachel to remove the comment.

Referring to the same alleged incident, an Instagram user criticised Marc Platt, accusing him of "reprimanding" Rachel Zegler, after Snow White's release. The user tagged Jonah and wrote, "Your dad flew to NYC to reprimand a young actress? Any thoughts on this? Because that’s creepy as hell and completely uncalled for. Don’t people have the right to free speech? Shame on your father.”

Jonah Platt reacted to the post with a lengthy reply. He wrote back, "You really want to do this? Yeah, my dad, the producer of the enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for.”

“This is called adult responsibility and accountability. And her actions clearly hurt the film's box office. Free speech does not mean you're allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions. Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue-collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful. Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged,” he also added.

The comment is no longer available. However, screenshots of the same are now out on social media.
