Sonali Sood accident: Sonu Sood thanks fans for prayers as wife recovers, ‘Forever grateful for your love’

Actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood has thanked his fans for their prayers after his wife, Sonali Sood, and two family members survived a major car accident in Nagpur on Monday night.

They were rushed to the Max Hospital, Nagpur, where they are recovering well, according to the Max Hospital bulletin quoted by ANI.

On Monday night, Sonali, her sister Sunita and her nephew Siddharth sustained multiple injuries when their car collided with a truck near Sonegaon police station on the Mumbai-Nagpur highway.

Providing an update on Sonali's condition, Sonu Sood took to X (formerly Twitter) to express gratitude to his fans.

"Dua mein badi takat hoti hai and we have felt it once again. Thank you so much for all the prayers and heartfelt messages. We truly appreciate your support. Sonali and the other two family members are recovering well. Forever grateful for your love and kindness [sic]," he wrote.

What did the hospital say?

According to a medical bulletin issued by the Max Hospital, Sonali, her sister, and her nephew had sustained multiple bruises. Their condition is stable and “are recovering well.”

"Mrs. Sonali Sood, her sister, and nephew were brought to the Emergency Department of Max Hospital, Nagpur, at approximately 10:30 pm last night. They had allegedly been in a road traffic accident. All three patients were conscious upon arrival and had stable vital signs. They had sustained multiple abrasions and bruises and were thoroughly evaluated for any internal injuries, none of which were found. Her nephew was discharged after first aid, while Mrs. Sonali Sood and her sister remain under observation and are recovering well."

Speaking to ANI, Sonu Sood reassured everyone about his wife's health, saying, "She's doing fine now. Had a miraculous escape. Om Sai Ram."

Sonu Sood rushed to be with his wife and has been in Nagpur since Monday night.

Sonu Sood and Sonali got married in 1996 and are parents to two sons, Ayaan and Ishant.

How did the accident take place?

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the accident took place around 10 pm on Monday when they were travelling to Byramji Town from the Nagpur airport.

The car, in which Sonali was travelling with her sister and nephew, rammed into a truck from behind on the Wardha Road Viaduct bridge near Sonegaon. The accident took place when their car was tailing another car that overtook a slow-moving truck. Siddharth, who was at the wheel, rear-ended the truck.

The airbags deployed and prevented serious injuries. Sonali, who arrived in Nagpur from Kolkata, was picked up at the airport by her relatives Sunita and Siddharth. The Sonegaon Police have made a police station diary entry based on Medico-Legal Case (MLC) information but have not registered a case due to the absence of a complainant.

On the professional front, Sonu Sood was last seen headlining Fateh, which also marked his directorial debut. The film is an action-packed thriller inspired by real-life cybercrime events during the COVID-19 pandemic.
