Actor Sunny Leone is set to expand her international work with a role in the upcoming US series The Giant, with filming expected to begin soon. The project marks a new direction in her career as she takes on a different kind of role.
Speaking to Variety India, Leone exclusively shared, “This is quite different from what I’ve done before, and that’s what excited me about it. Exploring a new character and stepping into a completely new space is always a thrilling experience. I’m looking forward to this journey and giving it my all. I hope my fans enjoy watching it as much as I am enjoying being a part of it. I truly hope they’re as excited as I am for what’s coming next.”
The Giant is currently under production and is expected to follow a half-hour episode format, with a six-episode run planned for each season. The show is being positioned as a character-driven series, in line with current trends in the US streaming market where shorter seasons and tightly written narratives have become more common.
Actor Kevin B Ploth will headline the series in the title role. The cast reflects a strong focus on diversity, with Latin American and African American actors, along with performers of Asian origin, forming part of the ensemble. Leone’s addition to the cast further adds to this mix.
Industry trends suggest that many independent US series are first completed before being pitched to networks and streaming platforms. The Giant is expected to follow a similar route and will likely be picked up by networks once filming is complete.
On her work front, she was last seen in Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy and in Trimukha, which was a Telugu project.
She will be next seen in Rangeela, Shero, Helen, and The Battle of Bima Koregaon.
While further details about the storyline and Leone’s character have not yet been disclosed, the project is already drawing attention due to its cross-cultural cast and international scope. Filming is expected to begin shortly, with more updates likely to follow as production progresses.
