The Diplomat Box Office collection Day 4: A thriller based on true events; an Indian diplomat trying to bring back a woman who had allegedly been honey trapped by a Pakistani man - The Diplomat has almost all the elements of intrigue. Still, the John Abraham movie has been struggling at the Box Office.
Although The Diplomat opened to decent figures, and grew over the weekend, the earnings dipped again on Monday, March 17 (Day 4). The movie is expected to earn ₹13.81 crore, India net, as per early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk.
John Abraham starrer The Diplomat managed to earn only ₹51 lakhs on Monday, March 17 (Day 4), shows data by Sacnilk. This figure is nearly 90 per cent short of what the movie had minted in the past few days.
During the weekend, The Diplomat had earned ₹4.65 crore on both Saturday and Sunday. Although the movie opened to ₹4 crore on Holi, the earnings grew over the weekend.
On the other hand, Chhaava, with an ₹8 crore collection on its fifth Sunday, has beaten The Diplomat and has reigned as the supreme leader at the Box Office.
The Diplomat, however, stood as a strong second choice, with much of the credit going to lead star John Abraham, who plays J.P. Singh (the diplomat) in the movie. The actor has received high praise from both the audience and critics alike.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh in a post on X stated, “Released with minimal buzz, #TheDiplomat benefitted from the #Holi holiday on Friday, with multiplexes in key centres recording good occupancy post-4 pm.”
The movie chronicles the rescue journey of an Indian woman, Uzma Ahmed, who is deceived into marriage and subsequently trapped in Pakistan. In her efforts to escape her captors, Uzma contacts J.P. Singh, the Indian diplomat (John Abraham), who plays a crucial role in helping her and ensuring justice is served.
