
Tributes have been pouring in, mourning veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, who breathed his last today, Monday at his residence in Mumbai. From President Droupadi Murmu, film director Karan Johar, actors Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kajol, Akshay Kumar to former cricketer Shikhar Diwan – everyone paid their last respects to Bollywood's ‘He-Man’.
Family members were seen arriving for his last rites at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle. Sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, wife Hema Malini and daughter Esha Deol were seen at the crematorium.
“It is an end of an ERA….. a massive mega star… the embodiment of a HERO in mainstream cinema… incredibly handsome and the most enigmatic screen presence … he is and will always be a bonafide Legend of Indian Cinema… defining and richly present in the pages of cinema history…” Karan Johar posted on Instagram.
“You stood tall, not just in stature, but in spirit. Dharmendra ji, thank you for showing us strength can be kind. Om Shanti,” Shikhar Dhawan wrote on X.
Akshay Kumar also took to X to post a heartfelt tribute for the ‘He-Man’. “Growing up, Dharmendra ji was the hero every boy wanted to be…our industry’s original He-Man. Thank you for inspiring generations. You’ll live on through your films and the love you spread. Om Shanti,” Akshay Kumar posted on X, along with a photo of him and the veteran actor.
“The OG of the Good Man is gone and the world is poorer for it.. somehow it seems like we are only losing the good people in it. Kind to the core and loved always . RIP Dharamji .. with love always,” Kajol wrote in a post on Instagram, featuring a photo of her son with the late actor.
“The He-Man of Indian cinema is no more.. Dharmendra ji’s departure leaves a void that Indian cinema can never fill. His legacy will continue to inspire generations. Heartfelt condolences to the family in this moment of immense loss. Om Shanti,” former Congress MP Priya Dutt stated in a post on X, paying her tribute to Bollywood's ‘He-Man’.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also condoled the demise of Dharmendra – stating that it “is an irreparable loss for the world of art and cinema.”
“The passing of the popular film actor Dharmendra ji is heartbreaking. It is an irreparable loss for the world of art and cinema. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed soul. My humble tribute to him,” Nitish Kumar posted on X.
Rahul Gandhi paid his tribute to Dharmendra – hailing his contribution to Indian cinema as “unparalleled,” and extended his condolences to the icon's family, friends and fans.
